PROS: -Up to 500 lumens output with intensity dial -Lightweight & comfortable -Light can be angled for best shine -Rechargeable through electric outlet, no batteries required -Long lasting & usable in a multitude of situations CONS: -On the expensive side, but nothing else compares to this product; sure beats having to change batteries and have less lumens

Die Lampe sieht super aus und die Helligkeit und Bedienung sind 1A. Aufgrund des hohen Gewichts, ist sie aber für Läufer oder Biker oder auch z.B. taktisches Schießen nicht geeignet.

I've had the Maximus for ten years now and it still works great although the battery doesn't last as long as it used to. But two indicators of quality for me - the headband, which still has good stretch and strength and the little rubber battery plug which is still supple and stays closed. But it really is just a little too heavy for even a tightened single strap which tends to let it wiggle some if you're moving around, and Surefire doesn't offer a top strap even though they made accommodations for it, so I recently bought a headband from Fenix with a top strap and easily made it work. I can wear it a little looser, have no more issues with movement and it's now comfortable enough for long term wear. The light itself is solid. It swivels up and down easily and doesn't move once set. It uses a standard 12 VDC charger with a typical small 12 v plug (not USB). Some have called it proprietary but it's not. I have several 12 VDC chargers with the same plug that work with the light. Changing the intensity is smooth and even from nothing to full power and the large, knurled knob is easy to find. It's my go to anytime I have to work in diminished light. This headlamp is still so good I don't really need it but I'm sorely tempted to get the new one with the upgraded LED and keep this one for backup. I may have a bit of a problem. :: Update: since my review, I contacted surefire and told them the battery seemed weak in my maximus. They said send it to sthem and gave me an RMA. So I did and I just got it back. It’s as bright as ever and the battery lasts a lot longer now. I’m not sure if they did anything else but the LED and lens is very clean and looks new while the brightness knob seems a little stiffer and has an indent at the end that I don’t remember. Whatever they did, it’s like a new light again. Very happy with my purchase.

I bought this in April of 2014 and here it is almost February of 2017, this light is still going strong, the battery stays charged great, output is awesome, and I have not had a single function flaw with it. The only problem I have had was the Velcro on the sweat band (the Velcro that is glued to the light housing) started coming unglued a little. I simply pushed it back down and let it dry (it was sweaty), and I haven't noticed any other problems with it. The color is very nice, I tend to steer more towards a 5000-6000 kelvin color in flashlights, I do not like warm led color or green, which is what quite a few surefire lights are. Since this was specified to be a cool white, I went with it, and have had absolutely no regrets! The output is a very nice flood, bright enough to light up a whole campsite, if need be, at maximum output, and the variable output is well balanced to provide the illumination needed for anything a head lamp would be used for. I highly recommend. I keep this light with me in my EDC backpack and use it quite a bit.
