If you missed out the first time around, don't be afraid to jump in now!! Used figures are extremely cheap any more, and even if you want new ones, many of those can be found for about 60% or less of what they were going for originally. Just double check to ensure it's one of the 80 characters that works with this game if it's the only one you have. Any figure with a Blue, Orange, or Green bottom liner on the base with assuredly work with this game, assuming it isn't broken completely for whatever reason. Swap Force is easily considered the best "Playground" in the entire Skylanders series. With Swap Zone challenges, the longest levels in the series, the longest story in the series, PvP battles, PvE Arena mode, Time Challenges, Special Challenges, Great Boss Battles, a plethra of elemental gates, individual Skylander tasks (pretty sure on this one......may have been giants only), and a difficulty slider, most players of the series logged the most hours into this game even if they didn't count it as their favorite. This is THE Skylanders game to get some play out of your entire collection without getting overly repetitive. The entire story, All PvE Arena battles, and 25% of the swap zones will be available on the purchase of this game. This offers a little above the average offering of content in most A list games these days. In order to play EVERYTHING in the game (which is not necessary, but fun), you will need the following: 6 Swap Force figures w/ the other 6 specialties (digger, sneaker, spinner, speester etc.), a figure of the Earth, Air, Tech, Undead, and Magic Element (which can be taken care of by the 6 Swappers) a Giant of any element, and the Tower of Time and Sheep Wreck Island pieces (all these last 2 have to do is touch the portal once in your game file and you're good. Borrow them for a second from a friend if they have them.) The gimmick of "Swapping" your skylander's halves around is fun, but many folks enjoy the characters as they come. The non-swappable Skylanders that premiered in this game are some of the best in the series and a blast to play. You can't go wrong by just sticking to Skylanders with blue bases (and a single Giant of Course). Have fun!!

My 7 year old loves this and his 1 year old sister loves helping him "swap" his characters. For Christmas, we got him this and had friends/family who asked to get him more of the characters, so he has a nice collection. It works with the Spyro series well - he likes some of the non-SWAP Force characters. We haven't tried giants yet, but I think they'll work as well. It comes with 2 swappable characters and one non-swappable. And a poster that you can put stickers on to show which characters you already have and which ones you can ask Santa for next year. :) The portal glows which makes it a magnet for his sister, so we have to keep it out of her reach to keep from pausing his game when she puts too many characters on or steals the one he has playing. The graphics are nice - it reminds me of Sonic, but a bit more exciting. The main characters voice is Puddy from Seinfeld, so that's entertaining. I do get tired of hearing the characters shout out their catch phrases, but that happens with all video games and moms I think. When it's no video game time, they play with the characters together as well, so it's a nice pause from "electronics" and still feel like they're playing the game. The best part, he forgets about begging to play Minecraft and since Skylanders has stopping points, it's easier to get him to stop when time's up without a big fight.

My son has an absolute blast playing Swap Force. I've got to admit that even I enjoy playing. I think they make it pretty easy so that kids and parents alike (who aren't hardcore gamers) don't get frustrated and give up. My 5 year old and I can play it side by side and be equal without one of us doing far better than the other. The ONLY downside to Skylanders in general is the additional cost which can add up quickly when your child wants to buy all the additional figures as some of the portals and other areas of the games can only be unlocked with certain characters. Regardless, it's cute, well animated, fun, family friendly and keeps him entertained. I definitely recommend it to anyone.

My two oldest children - ages 5 and 7 - are having an absolute blast with this game. While it can become expensive with all of the figures that you can buy, it is possible to get to the end of the game without purchasing any additional characters. The story itself plays out like a well written television cartoon, with humor that the kids love and that is watchable for myself. The puzzles are difficult enough for younger children that they may need occasional help, however not so much that they are constantly running to you to get them through a certain section. The reason I have given it 4 stars instead of 5 is still because there is a lot of content that is only unlocked through purchasing additional game pieces...which can become very expensive. The co-op mechanic of not allowing characters to get more than a certain distance from each other also can cause frustration and arguments, and I would have preferred a split screen similar to the LEGO games while in co-op mode. I would highly recommend this game for anyone with younger children.

Arrived fast, son couldn't wait to play it. Great for the price includes portal, 3 figures and game.
