JMP(R) Essentials: An Illustrated Step-by-Step Guide for New Users, Second Edition

I learned that I was getting JMP at work and had to become proficient within a week. I ordered this book and it allowed me to train very quickly. Overall, I spent 2 days (8 hours each) reading the book and concurrently working the examples on my computer. By contrast, my colleagues went to company training for 40 hours. So this book saved me time. The quality of the examples is excellent! The logic is linear. The writing is straightforward, polished, and smooth. The color of the paper is just right. The fonts, colors, and layout are perfect. Now, for you gripers out there: There are just one or two typos. And an update of JMP slightly changed the menu of one function -- which meant that particular example didn't work. But that's okay! The book was still 99.9% accurate and useful. Also important: This book is for JMP version 12. But JMP is now up to version 14. Luckily for me, I had version 12. If you are like me -- and need to power up on JMP quickly, I hope you find this book as useful as I did!

If you're new to JMP statistical software or even a veteran, I recommend this book. This is the book I give to people new to JMP. It saves them a lot of time.

This book may be useful in getting your feet wet with JMP, although it’s deeply flawed beyond the most basic level. The first two chapters introduce how to get started and how data tables work in JMP. The third chapter begins by introducing graphs, although many steps are omitted as the boilerplate is repeated throughout, and details are omitted. Worst of all, the book is not bound well, leaving little usefulness as a reference. The graphs are printed in color, a saving grace, albeit at low resolution.
