Microsoft Surface Dock 2 (4X USB-C, 2X USB-A, Gigabit Ethernet Port, Audio Port)

Solid piece of kit. Well packaged, shipped and performs as advertised. A bit heavy but that's to be expected. It does take the place of your current charging brick.

After struggling with various hubs I got this Surface Dock 2 and it is THE BEST!!!

This product is not compatible with a surface 2 Laptop. Power cord and micro port slots cannot be used simultaneously creating a major issue. Choose wisely. I did not.

Item arrived faster than it said it would which was great. Came with a UK 220v cord for the power supply. Could not find anywhere in the Desc is says that. Pretty obvious I'm in the US with the shipping address. Luckily I had a cord that works. Have a 2nd USBc cable coming and will know then if it can support dual monitors well like it supposed to but some reviews indicate otherwise. So far working fine with 1.

The primary problem with this dock is its dependence on the underpowered Surface Connect port. The USB-C ports do not support USB-C to HDMI or Displayport cables reliably, causing monitors to turn on some of the time. You have to either plug the USB-C to HDMI cable directly into the Surface Laptop/Pro or buy an active adapter that plugs into the dock. Both of these scenarios defeat the purpose of a $200 dock. The ports on the dock suffer from similar lack of reliability, such as the Ethernet port reporting itself as unplugged to Windows. Speaking of ports, there really is no reason for 4 USB-C ports, only 2 USB-A ports and zero HDMI or Displayports. These connection types have not been phased out. They are still extremely popular. Just search Amazon for the number of USB-C supported monitors to see what I mean. If you buy this dock, be prepared to buy a dongle or two as well. The Surface Dock 1 was a dramatically better dock for the Surface line.

Ordered through Microsoft store and returned. This dock does NOT support dual monitors with the Surface Books. It will support a single external display in conjunction with the laptop screen, but if you have a dual external monitor setup, this dock will not work for you. Do NOT purchase for dual monitors.

I bought this exclusively for extending two USB-C monitors off of my Suface Book 3 for day trading. It works flawlessly, and I now also have power with two 3.0 USB-A ports for my portable scanner and printer when I need to go full on office. It all fits in a laptop briefcase and is super efficient to hook up the entire package. I'm in almost 5k for all of the components, but You again get what You pay for plus it's really the only real option for the Surface Book (Surface Dock). As a side note, I wanted the ultimate mobile office in a bag. 5k for all of my components was worth what I need it for no doubt. I hope to add some pictures in the future and will extend the review over to each piece of tech in the arsenal. All bought off of Amazon.

So our company used surfaces exclusively until the Surface Pro 7. Microsoft's overall quality on their products is terrible. In the past year I have bought 12 of these docks and only 3 are still active. The power adapter for the docking station is pure junk and the connector that goes to the surface needs to be cleaned constantly or your monitors and other accessories will not worked. Its junk. And overpriced Junk at that. Save your money.

This unit is expensive, however having bought a cheaper laptop dock that stopped working after a few months I think this is worth the money. Firstly having the dock's link to the laptop integrated into the power supply is really nice and avoids using up a port on the laptop and looks neater. Second it runs really cool, I cant hear a fan however I use this 12 hours or more every day with 2 monitors and other peripherals and it never gets hot and works flawlessly. Thirdly it has a wide range of ports, likely more than you'll need. The lesson for me is you get what you pay for!

Das Dock ist sehr gut es erfüllt seinen Zweck stürzt sehr selten ab. Alles was es soll kann es gut. Am wichtigsten ist, dass man nur ein Kabel anschließen muss und das Gerät auch über das Dock geladen wird. Ansonsten könnte man auch jeder andere Dockingstation nehmen, wenn einem das nicht so wichtig ist und man zwei Kabel anschließt. Deswegen und gerade wegen des enorm hohen Preises gebe ich keine volle Punktzahl.

Ich finde die Microsoft Produktqualität immer wieder beeindruckend. Das ist auch hier der Fall. Die Ports auf dem Dock finde ich jedoch nicht so toll - ich habe mir den Dock eigentlich dafür gekauft, um einen externen Monitor anstecken zu können. Da hätte ich mir einen normalen HDMI Stecker gewünscht. Den Preis finde ich trotz der top Qualität um ~20% zu hoch.

Ihr müsst noch einen 3Pin zu 2 Pin adapter dazu holen, wenn ihr diese Version bestellt. Sonst alles Einwandfrei. Fast 300€ für ein Hub ist meiner Meinung nach zu viel, aber es tut seinen Job.

This product is top-notch. Plug and play - connect everything to the docking station and it's ready to go. I have two monitors, a speakerphone, a web camera and a mini USB port. What is particularly convenient is it is so easy to disconnect the power and I can take it to the office. Brilliant.
