General Tools 90 Pin Vise, Double End

This pin vise has reversible collets at both ends, giving you 4 collet sizes. The threads are smooth, and the knurling is grippy without being sharp. Great tool, especially considering the price. Don't buy the other "alternative" cheap pin vises, unless you really want the set of small drills they come with. I tried one of those, and the pin vise is functional, but very rough and has poor jaws.

Impressed with the quality of the tool, not so much with the packaging, but its worth noting. Package looks like its for a different tool so the Pin Vise feel out of it and was freely rolling around in the mailing envelope. The collets seem to be of good quality and came oiled. Each collet is double ended with a different size. The machining is pretty good and the threads are smooth. Really cant complain.

Good tool but not suitable for watchmaking jobs, as the grip is too large.

Works great. Holds Allen keys too. Fair price. Sturdy.

It works wonderful at what I use it for. I use it to hold small needle to apply glue.

Solidly made, double ended collects are great, you get 4 tools for price of one, collects are made of decent steel, machining tolerances are not perfect but it is a hand tool. They look pretty good, knurling is great, fit and finish is fine for a hand held tool.

I don't see why this has so many good reviews. The collet bores have terrible angular misalignment. Was going to use it to hold miniature drill bits for reaming tight tolerance pin holes. The collets are so bad that drill bits are held at 3-5 degrees off axis from the tool handle and wander all over as the handle is turned. I expected something better.

Ok for some purposes but doesn't work for my needs

One star only to get read. This isn't on Amazon as there's no detail about size. Don't be fooled by General's website description of Collet cavity opening: 0 to 0.0125 in. I've been a machinist for over 40yrs and know what I'm looking at. This tool can hold between .059" to .120". Nicely made and worth the money but be aware.

The tips came covered in smelly oil which was a bit hard to get off, but I've used the tool a few times, and it does a good enough job considering the price.
