Taste Your Words Review: Great book! - This book is so great for helping kids learn about the impact their words have. It is so relatable, and I love the pictures! Review: A Fun and Memorable Way to Learn About Words! - I absolutely loved using Taste Your Words with my kids! To make the lesson on the word “taste” really stick, we played the jelly bean game with all those surprising nasty flavors, and it was hilarious and effective. The book is engaging and creative, and combining it with the game helped my kids understand the concept in a way they won’t forget. Highly recommend for any parent or teacher looking to make learning fun and interactive!

Important story with a sweet message!
What a creative take on the evergreen message to "think before you speak!" Kids will absolutely relate to main-character Amera, who literally tastes the consequences of blurting hurtful words (and then the joy of sharing kind ones!). The illustrations are full of color and life and I found myself pulled into the story. The moment where Amera's mom has to taste her words, too, is an especially important pieces of the story -- so important for kids to know that adults are still learning and can fix their mistakes, too. Such a great book that I'm recommending to others!!

A Highly Recommended Delightful and Delicious Story
Taste Your Words is a delightful story with hilarious illustrations. After Amera and her friend argue and share some mean words, Amera’s mom suggests she tastes her words before letting them out of her mouth. From that moment, Amera tastes everything she says. Her mean words fill her mouth with yucky flavors like pickle juice and rotten eggs. But when she realizes nice words taste yummy like chocolate or sweet oranges, she is encouraged to be kinder and think before she speaks. What kid wouldn’t want to imagine words tasting like their favorite foods? This book delivers the perfect combination of a wonderful message shared with humor and imagery kids will remember. Everyone should read this!

an important read for sensory sensitive children
This book totally captivated the attention of my 2 year old and my 4 year old and caused them to laugh out loud during the yucky parts. Super helpful tool for my sensory-seeking/sensory-avoiding (SPD) son who lacks natural empathy towards others. All other books are pushing kids to imagine what the other children feel when a mean word is said -- this book uniquely turns the experience inward in a sensory-rich way which totally resonated with my son (FINALLY!). This book is a gift for parents. We've been using "How did that word taste?" successfully in my household already and we just got the book yesterday. Illustrations are whimsical and full of fun. Highly recommend as a teaching tool.

I was looking for a book for my classroom to teach about the power of words. This is an amazing book for that. It is not overtly faith based but does have scripture in the background. A great book to teach the importance of good, life-giving words.

We recently used this book for a board-wide project. The students loved it and even drew pictures of their own yucky and yummy words. It was well received by the students and teachers! Thank you Bonnie!!
