Definitely not the easiest hobby to pick up, but this kit has everything you need to get started (other than an insane amount of patience and coordination). Great booklet with all the popular weaves in it and easy enough to read! Highly recommend if you're looking to get into chainmail

I got this for a present and it is almost perfect. The book is great. Big detailed pictures. The pliers aren't my favorite, but I feel like that's a personal preference. Lots of different sizes of rings. Love it!

This kit is great for beginners. I made my first coif using this kit and the booklet was easy to understand and helped me get started with this project. In my photo I used the European 4in1 and I was able to almost complete my project with the 1lbs of the 16 SWG 1/4" rings (of course I ordered some more!). The quality of the rings are great and out of the whole 1lbs bag i only found 2 rings that were duds. I also love that we also get a little guide that helps us decide which rings we need for each weave. Overall, this kit has jump started my hobby for chainmail and I'll be continuing to purchase from this shop!

Great product with helpful instructions. The kit includes a ton of different chain options to get started. This is a great company and the second kit I’ve bought from them. Good value and good for beginners to intermediate.

I’ve been using these for art projs. Super good starter kit and has a lot of rings in it.

Why just an okay kit? The saving grace is the number of rings in various sizes. Very good variety to get you started. The book is just okay... I wanted to be excited about the book and it looks very straight forward to start with but the color change rings are confusing... I like how it breaks things into steps but it uses a color scheme of silver, red, gold. Silver usually something from previous steps. Red being new or last step and gold being current step. But this gets confusing when all the sudden you are on the next step and things that were gold are now red and there is new gold. This was very confusing when I was looking at the Byzantine chain. Lucky me I also picked up "Chain Maille Jewelry Workshop by Karen Karon". It also uses different colored rings but the steps stay consistent throughout. Don't get me wrong... the book is not worthless just difficult to follow. Tools... Glad it came with two pairs of plier but... You would be better off looking for pliers elsewhere. They are not worthless but they are low quality. I looked down at some of my rings and noticed that they were getting scratched up and blemished so I picked them up to inspect and found that the edges were kind of sharp... I will have to take them out to the shop and take the edge off. Would I recommend it? Yes but pick up another book to supplement it or spend time looking online at other tutorials. Included are two things I made in the first week of having the book. It is indeed fun messing with them.

This kit has jump started my new favorite hobby, and was a great price for the amount of rings you get! I have since ordered more rings from a different company, and the gauges do not match up. Unfortunately, I do not have precision calipers to be able to discern which company is using non-standard sizing, but I can tell you that what Chainmail Joe calls 18g, Weave Got Maille calls 16g. That being said, within itself, this kit is incredible. The pliers are good and sturdy (I've since upgraded to ones with sharper tips and more comfortable handles, but these are good for beginners), the book is easy to follow and understand, and the rings are bright and shiny with very few flaws (I've found a few where it looked like the saw jumped when cutting the rings off the dowel). I'd definitely recommend this product for beginners who want to try several different weaves and find their own style!

Our teen loves this kit. It was a Christmas gift in 2024 and our kid still enjoys working on the projects.

My package arrived really quickly and i absolutely love it! the rings are all so shiny and there is so many that im going to be able to create sooo many beautiful items for years to come. Initially I was iffy on this product because of the price and shipping within Canada. I was really worried that I was going to put a lot of money into something that wasn't worth the value. After all the consideration, I am so thankful that I took a chance and bought this kit! It's been PERFECT. It arrived in good condition, with lots of rings. It's nice to see so many different weave options, especially since this has id my very first time trying to build chainmail. In the two weeks I've had this product, I've been having a blast and making things non-stop. Even though my hands have been blistered and sore, I cannot stop making chainmail. With so few options for places to buy chainmail supplies in Canada, this product has truly been incredible. Chainmail Joe has a long term customer out of me now, especially since I've almost used up all my 16swg 1/4" rings on part of a coif, and I'll need way more to finish! If you're new to chainmail or need a wide variety of rings, this is well worth it!
