UPDATE: I'd increase this to 10 stars if I could. As a test I used the last one SIX WHOLE MONTHS! Obviously against manufacturer recommendations but in that time we had only a few times where we had chlorine smell/taste "leak" thru and that was only when we used a tremendous amount of water outside (filling kiddie pools & watering). It only lasted a few hours until the filter seemed to "catch up" as if it recuperated from the excessive use. And we use a LOT of water and our water from Detroit has a LOT of chlorine. Can't say we noticed a decrease in flow rate even after 6 months unlike other filters we've tried. So I HIGHLY recommend these filters & now have them on auto order thru Amazon. :) Decided to try these filters in our whole house casing after previously using the coconut shell filters recommended by the local water conditioning store that installed it for the 1st year. Both filters seemed to have nearly the same flow rate at 1st (at least close enough to not have discernible difference) but unlike the "stock" filters which had a very noticeable decrease in flow rate after even just the 1st month left alone by 3rd month where you couldn't take a shower while someone flushed a toilet, these Pentek show very little decrease in flow vs when 1st installed. To me that is a GIANT plus & why I'll keep using these filters. (Besides these are 1/3 of the cost on amazon vs buying from that store) So downsides? Sure.. The water inside the canister turns black but haven't seen any black water coming out of the faucets so it doesn't seem to hurt anything. But the old filters didn't do that. Another thing I noticed is if you run a LOT of water thru this filter over a short duration (such as filling a 250 gallon kiddie pool or watering the lawn a lot) there begins to be a slight chlorine smell from the taps. Our city water is VERY strong chlorine smell & taste without this filter so that doesn't surprise me really. This filter just can't keep up with massive amounts of water going thru it but I wasn't too bothered by it especially considering the filter was already months old & even then it still recovered after a day or two with little to no smell again. Although I did order a replacement from Amazon & plan to replace it soon anyway since we're approaching 6 months on this last filter. Money well spent!

These are the carbon filters in the 2nd water filter inside my motor home, and they work great in conjunction with the 1st filter in line with the water supply hose. They fit my Ametek filter housing inside the coach, and I bought enough to last us for 8 years. Perhaps as long as we will be traveling in our RV. They make the water in the coach taste great, and the ice cubes from the ice maker are really good too. The coach came with several of these filters and we have used them up over the last 6 years, so I am glad to have obtained several more of them to last us until we quit using the coach. They take the bad taste and odors out of the on-board water in the coach, and I would certainly recommend them for RV's.

Fit great on my water filter system.

I put one of these on my freezer's ice maker line (I simply added my own inline filter housing under the kitchen sink). We have well water (so, no chlorine) and a C1 filter lasts about a year before the ice starts to taste funny, which I think is a pretty good lifetime. Obviously, these filters will not last a whole year if used to filter large amounts of drinking water (or when filtering chlorinated city water), but I feel I get my money's worth.

Great carbon filter for whole house

This filter really works. I live in Fort Lauderdale and for the past 10 years, I was using a different brand and I won't say the name of the Company (which begins with the letter "A"). The price of their filter is twice the cost of this brand (plus shipping), so I thought I would try this filter just to see how it worked. Well, for the past 10 years, our drinking water was clean of any noticeable sediment, however it was always a little yellow. The new Pentair filter takes out all of the sediment AND OUR WATER IS CRYSTAL CLEAR! I am not sure if you can imagine how happy I am with these results. Thanks, Pentair.

We use this water filter in our RV. We usually buy ahead so that we have a fresh one to replace the old one when needed. We find them to be a much better buy on Amazon, rather than in the local camping supply store! Highly recommended.
