Excellent travel rod.
Finally was able to use this travel rod. Easily fits into a check-in luggage. It was pretty sturdy. This rod is a medium heavy action rod. Just the right amount of action for surf fishing with lures. This rod feels strong and durable.

Great Cross-section of Portable, Tough, Big, and Affordable
Man, I bought one of these last year. I enjoyed it so much I literally was about to buy another one to put on another setup. Really bummed it's currently not available. So good for traveling. I've thrown some huge bait on the one i have. I wouldnt say it's great at casting or anything in particular. It's just a general good heavy all rounder, handle is a little short for fighting really big game over a long period, but it's portability and general toughness more than makes up for it.

Great value
Is this a 200 rod? No. Is it way better than expected for $30? Absolutely! Holding up great to moderate weight bait, and catches. No issues from saltwater exposure (flushed nightly as any gear should be) Purchased 2 more since

Great product
Pros: great quality and corrosion resistance, especially the guides; on the heavier side action-wise for a telescopic pole, and the actual weight of the rod (around 260 g or 9.2 oz) is manageable for a solid glass rod; 8 ft length is good for surf species in SoCal (I pair it with 4500 Penn Spinfisher with 12 lb mono or 20 lb braid throwing 1-1.5 oz) Cons: no screw off cap at butt end, as others have stated, so difficult to clean from sand and saltwater, however the foam butt end is comfortable to rest on thigh while holding rod in hands Overall: I have ordered dozens of different telescopic rods and this is one of the best I have found in the US at this price especially

Uncanny how good these are for the price.
I have several of these and use them for boat, surf and inland fishing due to their compact size. Very backpack tackle friendly for airplanes and hiking out to spots. While I do have to crazy glue a guide here and there, I throw 4oz weights with bottom rigs routinely and have pulled in fish up to 20-25 lbs. I had previously purchased a pair of collapsible “carbon fiber” rods for $50 online that lasted a couple trips. These Mako Hurricanes are the best out there at this price.

Mako telescopic rod
I purchased the 8ft model because I intended to use it for shore fishing in Hawaii, the longer the further you can cast to usually. Feels very sturdy and comfortable to use. It packs very small and it's easy to carry anywhere. The guides are not flimsy like other models in the market but it's really hard today to say how durable they'll be. The action was sensitive enough in my opinion and they few fish I landed were easily handled. In my opinion this is a great portable rod that gets the job done without the flashy visual gimmicks other use. You can't beat the price, I would definitely recommend or buy again. It would be nice if they had different colors to choose from. The puke green available on amazon is not that appealing

This thing is everything you could need in a travel rod. Tough, compact, and cheap enough you wont cry if it gets lost or broken. Everything about this rod is just a really nice compromise, that will work in a pinch for just about anything from Walleye to modest Pelagics in saltwater. The action's sweet spot is around 1- 2 oz, but it will throw lighter and heavyer too, 8' is a great length for both shore and boat fishing, and as has been mentioned it can be used with both casting and spinning reels. I put a 5000 size spinning reel on mine and used it for surf fishing in Mexico, back home I put a 6500 Ambassadeur on it and use it as a heavy pike rig. No problems with breakage or the sections getting stuck yet. The only complaint I have is that the handle feels a bit short, nothing I cant adjust to but if they would have moved the foregrip to the end of the first section, and the reel seat accordingly, they could have made this rod much better without sacrificing portability.

Quality was more then I expected. My penn 7500 series saltwater reel fit this rod with no issues. Which in itself is impressive. Great buy for travel of any kind

The fishing rod is super easy to use and feels very durable. I have bought other generic cheap chinese rods before and they usually crack and break after a few uses. I have caught a couple rockfish with this rod and its great for shoving in my backpack. Only con is its pretty expensive but well worth the price in my opinion

We took two 8 foot rods to Mexico & were able to place in out suitcases, they come with tubes. Remember anymore reels or line must not be carried on! They will be seized! They worked great no problems. I hope Amazon will continue to carry these rods! My last search I was unable to find them but perhaps just algorythm.
