Good game for a good price
This is a great Lovecraftian based game. It's card based, being what Fantasy Flight terms an LCG or living card game. That means you get all the cards for an expansion in a boxed set, rather than having to fool around with buying booster packs of random cards and hoping for what you want, or purchasing overpriced single cards from online gougers (like with a collectible card game). The play sequence is a bit odd and takes some getting used to but isn't overly difficult or too complex. That being said it should go without saying that this isn't a kids' game, dealing with themes like interdimensional horror, insanity, and alien monsters who are hell-bent on destroying as many humans as possible. Overall it's a great homage to the Lovecraftian mythos and has the appropriate creepy vibes, weirdness, and even a sense of frenzied urgency to its play style that one would expect when playing a lone character attempting to single-handedly save the world from an invasion of horrific interdimensional monstrosities. It is also one in a long line of expansions to FFG's original Arkham Horror game, so if you like this one there are plenty more expansions out there. Highly recommended for dedicated Lovecraft fans or those who just like creepy, weird cosmic horror themes.

Tense and difficult to win, but FUN!
Everyone needs to be on their toes when playing this game. It is not difficult to learn, but everything needs to go right and good decisions need to be made to win.

Pandemic for Arkham Horror fans
Just another in the great Arkham files line by FFG. If you like pandemic style games and Arkham Horror then this is right up your alley

Excellent streamlined version of the classic horror board game
I have played Arkham Horror the board game 2nd Edition and Arkham Horror the Living Card Card as well as Elder Sign and Eldritch Horror, all from Fantasy Flight. While I have loved the flavor, artwork, and many of the ingenious mechanics of all of these games, I have found them all to be a bit too long for me to play them regularly. Most of these previously mentioned games clock in at 1 1/2 hours or more (sometimes much more) and set up can be quite complicated (especially if you are new to the game or haven't played them in awhile). Therefore, I was extremely interested to try out Arkham Horror: Final Hour - a STAND ALONE cooperative board game that DOES NOT require or use a base game in order to play or enjoy it. I was very pleased to find Arkham Horror: Final Hour to be exactly what I hoped it to be. A condensed, abridged version of the classic horror board game Arkham Horror. Though I love the 2nd Edition of AH (I have not tried the newer 3rd edition yet), the 2nd edition's set up and playing time is too much for me. Arkham Horror: Final Hour strips down the game to locations around Miskatonic University, and removes many of the extra mechanics of the base game that add time to playing. You still play cooperatively (and can play it solo), the game still has gates and spawning monsters that you need to kill, it still has clues to investigate to win the game, it still uses many of the familiar investigator characters that appear in other Fantasy Flight Arkham games, and it still has Cthulhu and a couple more boss monsters to try to stop from spawning. But this game plays out, win or lose, in an hour or less and that makes a huge difference to me. The shorter playing time greatly increases the chances of me replaying it and encouraging others to play with me. Many fans of the classic base game will miss the loss of complexity that comes with this streamlined version of Arkham Horror, but if you are looking for a shorter, but still fun version of Fantasy Flight's excellent H.P. Lovecraft world, Arkham Horror: Final Hour is a superb choice.

Ehhhhh it's "OK" but should be cheaper
It feels very much inspired from Edlritch Horror. No surprise at all. But the game play mechanics are kinda boring and overall this just does everything worse except play time. Was hoping for something a little better.

Enjoyable with some faults
Simple pick-up and play Arkham game which isn't complex and conveys the "final hour" theme well. The gameplay felt missing mechanics but didn't diminish the fun factor. Unfortunately, most the other players in my group didn't enjoy the game as much.

Get it cheap before it's gone if you want it.
The game will probably never be reprinted, it didn't sell well. The copy sent to me was clearly used.

Love the Arkham Horror games and this one works really well solo I think. Haven't managed to beat it yet but it's all a learning curve !

An interesting game that is good for an hour or two. Very easy to setup and play solo as well as tweak the rules to make it a little easier when playing with friends. Fully cooperative and no real competitive element except to see if you can 'beat the system'. Minimal thematic/roleplaying elements unlike some other Arkham Horror games and is very much focused on the mechanics.. if you're into the crunchier side of things this can be a fun evening or two before it ends up in the dustier side of the shelf (but super easy to pick up and play again down the track).

Always fun to play. Not too hard so it’s easy to pick up for anyone. You might need a few try to win a game
