My new favourite light
it's like a sodium vapour lamp in your pocket. Plenty of light but easy on your eyes because of it's 590nm (amber yellow) emission band. The torch itself feels high quality and robust, battery is good with usb c charging, no complaints you get what you pay for. Perfect for activities or tasks where you want to preserve night vision but still need a powerful light source, such as camping or even just a bedside light for navigating in the dark. There's nothing else like it, get one.

Top quality
Top quality torch light. Took me a moment to figure the charging port was in the top of the battery itself. Silly me. Make sure you have a micro-USB cable to charge it because there is not one supplied in the box.

Overall, this is one of my favorite flashlights. I have been using it for walks and general purpose stuff. All of the other options for obtaining this type of LED are very low end stuff. What kind of LED is it? It is NOT just a narrow-band color LED. It is constructed the same way you would make a "white" LED, which are actually blue LEDs with a layer of orange-yellow phosphor over it. But this one has a HUGE amount of phosphor, which creates an "orange" light source, but due to it being phosphor-based rather than directly an orange LED, you get a wider bell curve over the orange range. This makes it like 98% orangey to protect your eyes, but with just a tiny bit of light across the spectrum so you can just barely tell different colors apart. This is both functional and also more pleasant than a narrow red LED, which I find weirdly disorienting because anything not exactly red looks black under a red LED. This amber type gives a fuller view of things while still being gentle on the eyes. This flashlight is expensive, but it's a high quality product. Anodized threads (not square, but still well done), a good forward clicker button, a good matted surface texture with no flaws. The lens is pretty good. The beam does have a small amount of bright ring around the very edge, but not distracting. The beam is otherwise very consistent throughout. I suspect the LED is only available with a dome, whereas a flat type is better for flood beams. I prefer the USB-battery charge method. No need for a separate charger. I know a lot of people like USB ports built into the flashlight body, but that ALWAYS ends up making the flashlight larger. I prefer this setup to have a more handy sized flashlight (it's smaller than more common "tactical" lithium lights). It does not use the cheesy "PWM" (pulse width modulation, basically a super fast strobe) method to do the low power mode. It's constant non-flicker light. One thing I might suggest is for the low mode to be somewhat lower. It's a pure flood beam so the current low mode is OK, but it could be about a third lower and still serve as the low mode while extending the battery. But it's OK as is.

Absolutely the best for preserving night vision. This light uses a special PC (phosphor-converted) amber LED, which provides a wide spectrum light and even illumination that makes it easy to read with at night without wrecking dark adaptation. This especially useful when using a star chart at the telescope. Traditional red LEDs are either too dim or too harsh (i.e. narrow spectrum) to read by. No other vendor (to my knowledge) offers this kind of LED. There are other Weltool lights in other colors (white, red, green & UV) that also produce a wide circle even illumination that makes all the difference when trying to see objects a night. They are certainly pricey, but well worth it for quality rugged construction and high quality illumination.
