The Best Spider-Man Game Yet!
First of all, I'll admit that this is Teresa's son writing this :D. Anyway, I went to see the film last year and was very pleased with what I saw. I really don't understand why a bunch of people didn't and don't like it. The original films were great, but it was time for a reboot. I finally was able to purchase the game a few weeks ago and it is excellent. WARNING: Minor spoilers folllow! The game picks up a little while after the events of the film. Oscorp has created a handful of cross-species creatures (fans will recognize redesigned versions of the Rhino, Scorpion, Vermin, and Iguana to name a few, as well as some other familiar faces...and voices). They break out of the building and start infecting civilians all across the city, turning them into dangerous cross-species as well. So it's up to our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man to save Manhattan again! Along the way he must battle numerous mechs designed to stop the mechs. But why would he fight them as well? Because he's considered a cross-species as well (the perfect cross-species to be exact). The story is very interesting all the way to the end and tests Spidey to his limits. Various side missions can be accessed during or after the main story line and a handful of awesome costumes can be unlocked in various ways (some can only be found after taking photos of spider emblems throughout the city). Even after completing all quests, there is still work to be done...like collecting 700 comic pages throughout the city. The gameplay is sleek and smooth and the graphics are great (especially Spider-Man and a few select villains); one great aspect is the new Web Rush ability...trust me, you'll get addicted. The voices and sounds of the game are really good as well (even though the cast of the movie does not provide the voices...). My one complaint is that you get a little tired of playing after 100% completion, but it's easily fixed by playing it all over again on a different difficulty. I highly recommend this game for Spider-Man fans and gamers who enjoy a good action/adventure game. I can't wait to see if they'll make a sequel after the next movie! Gameplay: 5/5 Graphics: 4.5/5 Sound: 4.5/5 Overall: 4.5/5 Fantastic!

The Best Spider-Man game I've played Yet!
Finally, Beenox has delivered an awesome and durably realistic Spider-Man game with such realistic authenticity than previous games! Despite this being the first Spider-Man movie-based game the developer has ever done, since Treyarch handled the games based on the Tobey Maguire/Sam Raimi films of the series, this Spider-Man game, when I first played it, looked so surreal. The Free-roaming feature looked like as if I was in Spidey's world with purified realistic graphics. Good thing Beenox added the free-roam/open world compatability that was dearly missed in "Shattered Dimensions" and "Edge of Time" (with EOT being their shortest Spidey game). One new feature to these Spider-Man games is the "Web Rush" feature. That is/was so badass. Unlike previous Spider-Man movie games, The Amazing Spider-Man does not feature the voices of the actors featured from the film (Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans). Instead, consists of an entirely different voice cast but with likenesses of Gwen and Dr. Connors from the film of the actors that played them (sans Garfield's Peter Parker) is still used. When you look at Gwen Stacy, she doesn't really resemble Emma Stone at times. She rather looks like someone else. As always like previous Spider-Man movie games, it has the same game formula - 1.) Taking on elements from the Comics. 2.) Featuring villains that never appeared in the movie, but rather in the game (Rhino will though appear in the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man 2 alongside Electro). 3.) Using a few elements from the movie's plot. In regards with the villains, this marks the third Spider-Man movie game to feature Rhino, Black Cat and the Lizard. Last 2 times Rhino was in any of the movie-based games was in the Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3 games ("Friend or Foe" doesn't really count). Last time Black Cat/Felicia Hardy was in any of the movie-based games was in the Spider-Man 2 game. And lastly, the Lizard/Dr. Connors in the Spider-Man 3 game - but it hasn't been that long since Dr. Connors has been the Lizard in any of these movie games. SM3, when back in 2012, was 5 years ago at that time, so by the time of the arrival of "The Amazing" reboot movie in '12, it was 5 years later but the very first time to feature the Lizard in any of these Spider-Man movies. PROS: * Nice set of costumes to unlock, with a Stan Lee skin to be unlocked when you had pre-ordered the game back in 2012, which I didn't because I just got my PS3 in late 2012 for Christmas. * The return of the open-world enviroment that was missed in Beenox's last two Spider-Man game titles. * The Brand new Web rush feature. * Neat unlockables, like collecting comic pages scattered around the city and audio files of Dr. Connors' work at Oscorp. * A tie-in video game sequel to the movie, but is officially non-canon to it. * Awesome game score composed by the same composer behind the Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time games as well as being known for doing the music for the Batman: Arkham series of games. * Has a "Batman: Arkham City"-vibe to the game (but one thing, Spider-Man is NOT Batman). * Bruce Campbell as the voice of the Xtreme Reporter! * Taking photos (like in the Spider-Man 3 game). CONS: * Spider-Man's voice acting is okay here but it would've been great if Andrew Garfield did the voice in the game, like what Tobey Maguire did when he lend his voice in the games based on his Spider-Man films. * No health meter. Health auras in today's video games for me can be repetitive.
