Nutrient Agar 100 grams

This is a great product because it contains all the ingredients for nutrient agar, with directions on the package. I have used this to make a number of petri dishes (using standard techniques of heating in an autoclave to both melt and sterilize, and pouring the plates in an airstream that excludes microbes) and it has worked flawlessly for growing the sorts of microbes I would expect to grow on it. This is an amazing value compared to buying the same product from some "scientific" supplier.

I used this product for my experiment (growing bacteria) and it WORKED!!! I was so glad, but the bacteria came back so FASCINATING!!

This agar works excellent in creating nutrient agar plates for mycology. A good simple recipe is 4 grams corn syrup, 8 grams agar agar, 12 grams instant potato flakes and 400 ml of distilled water. Pro tip add 2 - 3 drops of blue food coloring for contrast. That recipe works great with this agar to make petri dishes for mycology.

This is more agar than you will ever need. Used for kid's science experiment. Worked perfectly. Just mix with right amount of water and warm to dissolve. Autoclave not necessary for 99% of kids science experiments. More cost effective to buy this than pre-packaged or smaller amounts of agar.

Worked good for science project. Very expensive however.

We ordered this for a science project. It boiled down quite a bit but we had enough to do 40 Petri dishes. Worked as needed.

This seems to be reasonable nutrient agar for non-fastidious bacterial cultures, but the instructions are not adequate. I would recommend watching some videos on how to prepare agar from powdered form like this if you don’t already know how.

Agar wirs excellent for small experiments. Huge margin of error when mixing. Definitely useful as a fast effective teaching aid.
