Claeys Sanded Candy Drops, Horehound, 2 Pound

These horehounds are excellent quality and taste exactly how they should. Fresh, strong, and not overly sweet, which I really appreciate. They are soothing on the throat and great to have on hand, especially during dry weather. The texture is good, they are not sticky, and the flavor lasts. Very happy with this purchase and would definitely buy them again.

These are exactly the same as the ones that I had when I was a kid. For me, when I was younger, I probably liked a few other candies better. The "horehound" was a candy that had more of an "acquired taste". Maybe it was the years of taste denied, the lost but now found but when I saw these on Amazon, the craving began. I didn't order them the first time I saw them online but I did put them on my wish list. Then the craving started to build a little, day by day. After about a week, I succumbed and place the order. They arrived in a heavy plastic Ziploc baggie and were fresh and whole and in good shape. Best of all, they taste absolutely mouth watering delicious. Apparently, the older I get, the more I like them. I am about half way thru the stash and as each day goes by, I still have the same cravings for them as day one. Most likely I will be ordering more. Like most things in life, I expect that as I over indulged, my cravings will lessen but so far, I have not reached that point. For those out there that remember this hard candy fondly, I would highly recommend this. For the younger generation and for those that have never tasted the horehound candy, I would warn that these have a bit of a bitter sweet taste and is not for everyone.......like I mentioned, for some people these do fall in the category of "acquired taste". For those though, that might still harbor that small craving that percolates within themselves, I would say go for it......these are the real deal.

I have ordered these multiple times and love the flavor however this last batch doesn’t seem the same at all. The shape is a little more robust, they are not sanded, the cinnamon flavor is different AND they are hot. Seems odd…they must be changing them. :( Sad. They were soooooo good before!!

I’ve ordered these cinnamon candies many times. The last orders cinnamon flavor was noticeably weaker than in the past. I ordered again, with arrival today, and the quality/strength of the cinnamon flavor was back to what it had been.
