Q: how large diameter hole would one need to drill in a wall to pass the cable end through?

I don't have a cord in front of me but I would say 5/8" to 3/4" hole. You might be able to force it through a 1/2" hole but I would rather have a larger hole that it passes through easily. Hope this helps.

Q: Can I use this cable to connect printer to Samsung laptop, ot does to have to be connected to the router?

Usually hooking up a printer to a computer requires a printer cable (and they are usually some sort of USB). If your printer has an ethernet port you might be able to connect it to the router so that all devices can connect. If it is a wireless printer you can connect to it wirelessly. Probably just need to install the software on each device.
