It worked perfectly
I purchased this item for my 2001 Ford Escape. It was very easy to install and the video instructions were clear and succinct. The bushing fit perfectly. The product comes with a lubricant pack which I used as directed. After applying the lube, it will appear that the fit appears rather loose (at least on my year/model). Bushings I’ve used in the past have had more of a snap in feel. It felt loose enough that I was compelled to call the manufacturer to ensure that I had the correct fitment I called the company and they assured me that I had the correct bushing and it would work fine and tighten over time. They were absolutely correct and the vehicle is shifting smoothly and accurately. As for price, it’s not what I’d call inexpensive but getting it from Amazon gets it to you rapidly and it works perfectly. You can drive without this part, but it’s no fun at all. There are a lot of work arounds and temporary solutions available; however, if you just want to get it done quickly, efficiently and close it up without any worry. This is a great way to go. My dealer was pressing me to replace the entire cable, but I see no reason to replace something that’s not broken. Update: it’s been a couple of months since I purchased this bushing. There was one occasion where it did detach. I opened it up again, re-attached and it’s been fine since. I suspect, due to wear the parts are a little bigger/smaller than the original factory sizes the part was designed to accommodate. I will continue to post if anything changes. I would be nice to see the part manufactured to compensate for years of wear on the cable. But that is rather difficult to predict. As previously stated it did seem a bit loose to me. However, it’s still the best game in town for the money and a lot cheaper/less work than a new cable. So I’m still thumbs up.

Exact fit for the "upstream" end of the shifter cable under the dash.
This was and exact fit for my 2001 Ford Escape with 4 speed automatic transmission and took me less than 20 seconds to install. I snapped it together with the supplied guide and my slip joint pliars (channel locks).

Broke after 2 days!!!!
Broke after 2 days! Installation went easy on a 2001 mazda 626 and it worked great...until it broke while backing out of a parking space at 6 am after only being installed for 2 days. Linkage came off quick. Thankfully the e brake works so I could at least get it back to my place. Not happy about this. It is a tiny plastic piece to begin with and the fact that it costs about $30 for only being used for 2 days of use is horrible! I ordered this piece from another place on amazon and will see how that one works out.

Get a mechanic
Very hard to install, kept slipping out. Then once on kept popping off. So for the expense it's better to go see a mechainc.

not very snug
Great idea - easy to install. Unfortunately the fit is not very snug on the lever of my Dodge Magnum NAG1 transmission. Emailed the company to see if they had anything with a smaller ID. No response. Unfortunately I cut the old bushing getting it out or I would return this one.

The product looked good and would have worked much better if the bushing came with the package. In this case it was missing and I had no choice but to have it returned.
