Best quality and longest lasting shoe by far that I have ever owned
Cat (Catapillar) shoes and boots are by far the most incredable, long lasting, well made and comfortable boots I have ever owned! This review will tell you why. An employee at an army navy store in Engelwood Colorado told me that Cat boots are the best made boots they have sold in over 30 years in business and they sell a lot of different brands of boots. I've worn this shoe most days in the fall and winter for three and a half years now. The sole is only about half way worn. The upper leather is extermly durable and still in good condition. I finally, after three years, I had to have a shoe maker stich about a 3/4 inch stich on one of the shoes. Nothing else was wrong with them. They are still going strong five months after the repare. I bought another pair of the same shoe to wear when my current pair wears out. Two years after I bought the second pair, I am still waiting for the first pair to wear out, so I can switch to the second pair. That's incredable that the first pair is still going!! I also own two other styles of the cat boots besides this shoe. One is like a hiking boot style. The other style is an above the ankel style boot. The three styles of the Cat boots I have were all comfortable from the first day I put them on. On the three different styles, I did not have a "break-in period" of several weeks after I bought them, like I had to do on other brand boots that were more expensive. Cat is very careful on the way the boots are made. A Cat's customer service rep. told me that when I called them. The two boot styles I own are just as incredablly durable and comfortable as this shoe is!!! I bought this shoe about four years ago. The other two styles of Cat boots are both about five years old. I have worn the hiking boot style over a hundred and fifty times to go hiking and in the snow. Some of the hikes were three day hiking/camping trips in the mountains of New Hamshire and Colorado above tree line on jagged rocks. The hiking boot style sole is not even half way worn down yet. The lether upper is incredably durable, still in good condition and none of the stitching has come apart. Some of their shoes and boots have composite toes, NOT steel toes. A composet toe is much better then steel toe. Steel toes looses wormth quickly. Composite toes holds in warmth much better. The sole to my above the ankel boot is also less then half way worn after having it for about five years and wearing them at hundreds of times. The upper leather is incredably durable "full grain" leather, too. None of the stitching has come apart on this boot, eather. All their boots will last you many years, like mine have.

Great product
These caterpillars still tell work shoes fit perfectly, they are true to size, I would repurchase these and I would recommend these to anyone looking for a comfortable steel toe work shoe who works on their feet all day

The mechanic says is't the best work shoe he ever wore
Bought these as a gift for my mate, and he loves them. Actually, these are the second pair of the same style (the first ones were brown), and he swears they are the most comfortable work shoes he has ever had. We had to send the first pair back because the seam behind the toe box on the right shoe had been sewn too close, causing it to pinch. The return was quick and painless - Amazon sent out the new pair even before I could ship the defective ones - and now he has happy feet. The good: 1) He says these are the most comfortable work shoes he's had. The past few years, he's been wearing Keens. As a mechanic at the bowling alley, he's constantly on his feet and running from one end of the house to the other, so comfort is a huge factor. 2) They appear to be very well constructed. Everything about them, from the sewn seams to the joining of the sole, seems to be tight and even. No areas that seem like they would be prone to weakness. 3) They are a decent price, considering the construction and comfort. The bad: 1) The only negative I can come up with was that bad seam. There should have been a gap of maybe 1/4" between the two areas, but it was simply sewn tight together on the one shoe. So I recommend you check them out and wear them around the house if there is any question (something he never does, mind you). But even with that, it was simple to return and replace them, so I really have no complaints.

Works fine but is 12 not 12 Wide
Bought 12W but this is actually just 12. Wide in the back heel small up front by the toes. The foot pad insert is bad just swap out with dr scholls other than that its an okay work shoe

Live this boot
I would go a half size larger than what you need but other than that this is a light weight and extremely comfortable boot especially for a longer day ! Love them and will buy again !!

No durability
If I pay $80 for a pair of shoes, I expect that they'd last at least 10-12 months of hard work. I've had these shoes for about 3 months now, and I've had problems with the leather fraying away, one of the eyeholes for the shoelaces completely broke away, and most of the tread on the bottom seems to be air filled instead of solid rubber - I stepped on something sharp and it punctured a hole into the sole of the shoe, allowing water to get into the shoe itself. These shoes lasted less than 3 months before they were done. Last Cat shoes I ever buy. If you're going to spend some decent money on a pair of shoes, do yourself a huge favor and go with an actual shoe company, like Timberland or Dr. Marten (Just ordered Timberland PRO Men's 40008 Mudsill Low Steel-Toe Lace-Up to replace these). I liked the light weight composite toes, but the shoddy craftsmanship has steered me away. These shoes are nice shoes that are put together very poorly. On the plus side, they are VERY comfortable. I just wished they would have lasted longer.
