Delphi HP10147 Fuel Pump

I bought this for my 1989 Jeep Cherokee. I won't use the common aftermarket brands like Airtex. They just don't last more than six months to a year. Replacing a fuel pump is not something you want to have to repeat doing. I highly recommend the Delphi fuel pump.

As a 25 year master tech I can say that typically Delphi makes good fuel pumps. This pump, however, was not so good. I was installing it in my 1990 jeep xj which has a very specific fit due to a location grommet in the bottom of the tank. The assembly I received was well made but was about 3/4” too long. Both the grommet and the main pump were both located far too low for it to ever fit in the tank. Fortunately my fuel gauge sender was still good so I had to switch all other parts over to my original hanger. This would have been a nightmare for anyone without the experience to confidently swap the parts! Plus where I live doing Amazon returns are nearly impossible since none of the return locations on amazons list honor the contract.

So, bought and installed it without a problem other than the o-ring was a really, really tight fit. It seems to be working great but it is really loud. I'm hoping it will settle down after a day or two because right now it sounds like an industrial air extractor.

Went right in my '89 Jeep Cherokee XJ. Much quieter than the old one. Been working flawlessly for over two months in my weekend adventure vehicle, including two days on the Alpine Loop in CO at elevations over 12,000.

Dimensions are incorrect. The mounting flange is too large, and the return line portion with the rubber grommet is too tall. SKIP THIS ONE AND PUT A NEW PUMP IN YOUR CURRENT ASSEMBLY IF POSSIBLE!!!

Everything looks good and better than the other one I had. But.... it did came in from delivery with the strainer broken off. And when installing the tabs wouldn't line up. Had to modify to make it work.

This is by far the easiest fuel pump I have installed and with a trusted brand like Delphi I know I won't have to do it twice.

So far so good in my 1989 jeep cherokee Update: got maybe 1000kms out of this pump before the the welds broke and it started spilling $2 liter all over the place 👍

This wasn't even in my Jeep for a month and it failed.....I DO NOT recommend this to anyone. Whether it was a dud when I got it or not...not the kinda product you can just return. Just dont waste your money.
