Not quite that easy to fit
This is a much improved latch compared with the original where the latch would drop out after a couple of months. The major drawback is the latch itself does not retract fully into the back case therefore be very careful when fitting that when you close the door the latch has enough clearance to reopen the door, otherwise you'll be stranded and once fitted it cant be removed from the outside. Close the door from the flat side of the latch and if it won't open try a wallpaper scraper in the gap between door or frame pressd against the latch to prise the door open. My solution was to tap the latch body with a socket so it sat slightly further back in the door and that 2mm gave clearance to open. Time will be the decider on durability of this version. This review does not reflect this seller who supplied the latch to time and came well packaged.

Good replacement
Shame the original one failed after a few years, locking me out of the front room. Hope this one lasts longer!

Improved build quality
Really felt like an improvement over previous designs. Obviously it's built for speed fitting and isn't the most sturdy but I am happy and that is rare

Crap product
This product is complete rubbish and have cost me the price of a replacement door, the only reason why I bout this is because I bought a second hand door that was broken on the latch, I had to completely drill out the old latch and when I inserted the new one is got stuck half way, spent about 2 hours trying to get it out when the whole side of the door had come away, tamping to say the least

Original part
Bought as a like for like replacement after one of my door latches jammed/stopped working. Did the job perfectly. Fast delivery, ordered one day and arrived the next

Direct replacement
Direct replacement for existing broken latch. lets hope it lasts longer than the original which was only 4yrs. Its also a shame that you are forced to buy all the other bits that come with it, I only require the latch, there is nothing else that will break, sutch a waste of materials as I already have a bucketful of spare bits! I suppose they are only concerned with making a profit.
