Just wow
I've experienced a lot of Lego/Duplo sets as a kid and as a parent, but this one takes the cake. I had also considered the steam train and construction train sets, but decided to go for this one, with all its accessories, and I was not disappointed. Make no mistake, this is a massive set. It took 10 mins just to unpack all of the bags. I had to buy new storage containers to have a place to store all the parts. But the variations of what you can build, the suggestions, and the amusement of the train itself are amazing. I think we're going to get years of amusement from it. My 3 1/2 year old isn't quite at the point where she can build layouts herself, but she can place the action tiles and build the other structures. They really nailed a lot of the design details. Unlike the classic wooden train tracks, every piece of Duplo track works in either direction. The tracks don't latch together, which makes it easy to bump them apart accidentally, but that also gives them enough flex to make complex layouts possible with a small number of track types. It probably goes without saying, but complex layouts will take up a lot of floor space, so unless you have an entire room to dedicate to a train set, you'll probably want to plan to disassemble it repeatedly.

2 year old loves it
We got this for Christmas. I was afraid it may be to advanced for a 2 year old, but it wasn't. The parts are large and she quickly mastered building things, using the track, and using the coding/action pieces. I help her build some buildings and turn on and off the train, she does the rest.

Great duplo, not coding
Great set with a variety of pieces. Train is great, especially the auto stop feature. The “coding” aspect, however, is weak. It’s just track overlays that make the train do things when it goes past: stop, reverse, whistle, flash lights. My boys got bored with the “coding” in a week. There are better coding toys out there.
