With the background forbidden love and burden of clean allaiances, this book is Perfect for teens. Review: More challenges for Fireheart and Thunderclan - Fire and Ice, the second book in the Warriors series about four clans of cats living in the wild is just as good as the first book of the series. It follows the adventures of Fireheart (who appeared in the first book as Firepaw, the domesticated cat – the clans call them ‘kittypets’ – who ran away from home to join Thunderclan in their home in the wild). This is evidently a series intended for younger readers. However, I didn’t find it at all oversimplified. There was great character development and just the right amount of action. I have seen the series compared to the Redwall series, which is also an adventure series for young people. There are some similarities, although there are many differences too. The feral cats in the Warriors series for the most part do things that are almost believable for real cats living in the wild, whereas the Redwall characters live and act much more like humans, although adhering mostly to the personality types of the various animals. Sadly, the Warriors series, at least so far, doesn’t have any characters quite comparable to the baby animal Dibbuns of Redwall, although, with the introduction of the younger kittens like Cinderpaw and Fireheart’s young nephew, Cloudkit, they are coming closer. Fireheart is now a full-fledged Warrior, and he begins to embark on more grown-up adventures. He and his friend, Graystripe, are sent to find the missing Windclan, who disappeared before the start of the first book and bring them back to their territory. They are assigned their first very young apprentices. Fireheart gets the feisty Cinderpaw for an apprentice and has a difficult time controlling her. Graystripe falls in love, and Tigerclaw remains a sinister threat while seeming to have the clan’s best interests at heart. There are many other challenges too. It’s a difficult winter there in the forest. But Thunderclan keeps trying to overcome all obstacles.

Book 2
This is the 2nd book in the Warriors series, which I’m slowly acquiring and rereading. I really enjoyed this book and following along Fireheart and his clanmates on their adventures. I don’t think it was as good as the first book, and it was definitely a bit slow at parts, but all the characters just have a really special place in my heart, so I still did enjoy it pretty thoroughly. I think my favorite part of this book was just continuing to watch the relationship between the cats develop. Friendships are being tested, there might be a traitor within the clan, etc etc. This book and the whole series is a great one to get me out of a reading slump pretty quickly. I was reading another book at the same time as this one, and when I found myself not really feeling like picking up the 2nd book up as much, I read a little bit of this one, and it motivated me to pick up the other one again. They are also really short books, around 300 pages, and I like reading them on and off between my homework/class work I need to be doing. 10/10 I love this series.

I love the new cover for this book
If this wasn’t a children’s book, I would have a slight problem with the few times the book went into “previously on” mode but I say that I’m giving it a pass because of it being a children’s book and because the books were published months apart. I tell ya, I would have appreciated the “previously on” in some books I’ve read. I love the new cover for this book, I love that Tigerclaw is the cat featured here and the art just captures that creepy killer vibe that I get from him while reading. I get so caught up in the story and even though I know what’s going to happen, I still get anxious feelings when the tension builds. This is why I love re-reading good books, I get all these feelings back and remember why I loved them. This series may be the only children’s books that I enjoy and will re-read over and over again. The pace is excellent for the plot, there’s quite a bit going on in the story but the authors give equal time to all of it. They really know how to pull at your heart strings as well.

Great-nephew's favorite series
I was pleased to find my Great-nephew has found a series of books he likes. He has trouble reading and his Grandma, who used to be a teacher, has been helping him. I always send him a cat book for his birthday since he know his Great-Aunt is a "crazy cat lady" and he has a cat as well. He really likes Warriors: The Prophecies series. There are several cat series Erin Hunter has written and they are titled differently per series, so make sure you are ordering the right book from the right series.
