Official Sega Genesis USB Controller 8-Button Arcade Pad for Sega Genesis Mini, Switch/Switch 2, PC, Mac, Steam, RetroPie, Raspberry Pi - USB Port (Black)

I've tried several of these retro-type PC game pads over the years. It's been fairly hit or miss when it comes to quality but it seems recently there's been an increase in the variety that has come out. Nowadays we even have a bunch of console specific ones rather than just generic PC gamepads. Most look good in the pictures but end up being cheap knock offs with shoddy controls and poor response when you actually play them. One of the better ones I tried was the iBuffalo SNES style pads but while those are very close, I now prefer this Genesis pad over that as my go to retro controller. While this does have the layout and feel of a Sega Genesis pad, with the additional l/r shoulder buttons it makes it versatile for pretty much anything sans analog sticks (which is what you'd expect). You also have the option to play fighting games with a true 6 button face layout which is something you can't do with most other pads. The buttons are a bit floaty which can be a preference. This is actually accurate to the real thing though. The d-pad is a bit on the floaty side as well. Subjectively I feel this might be a bit more than the original (more than the stock 3 button pad for sure) was but in any case it's looser than most pads (except maybe Logitech) but when it comes to actual play it doesn't hinder anything at all. Just use less mash and more roll. The d-pad is usually the weak link between a good and bad pad and I still think it's one of the better ones. All in all, this is a pretty solid pad and I'd recommend it especially if you like the layout of a Sega Genesis pad. I don't know if it's a 1:1 replica of the original but it's a decent pad regardless.

Disclaimer: I never owned a Sega Genesis or any Sega console back in the day. I was a Nintendo kid. But, I loved playing Sega at my friend's houses. I can't remember exactly what the controller felt like, but this controller still gives me a hefty dose of nostalgia. And, simply put, it is my favorite controller now to play arcade, fighting games, and classic Sega games. The buttons are tight and responsive and the d-pad, while not as accurate as many of the Nintendo SNES reproductions, is perfectly serviceable and works great for games where you need to rotate the pad (such as fighting games). And you can't beat this for the authentic feel when playing Sonic. I loved this controller so much that I bought a 2nd so that my 4 year old and I can play some ToeJam & Earl. One thing of note, the button mapping can be a bit tricky. Thankfully, the controller can be switched between D-input and X-input, but it seems that unplugging the controller resets this. Also, it doesn't play nice with ScpToolkit for those of you like me who use PS3 controllers on your computer. I uninstall the driver before plugging this controller in each time, and reinstall them when I want to switch back to using my PS3 controller. If I don't, some of the buttons won't work on the controller. But, it is really ScpToolkit's fault, so can't fault the controller.

A controller that feels authentic for your genesis games. This is the real deal. -Amazing D-pad. -Responsive buttons -Great shape -Authentic genesis controller size & weight There's a reason Sega put their seal of quality on this. Plugs in via USB and is perfect for your genesis mini (plus works on PC, Switch, etc.) The added L and R shoulder buttons are a great option to have, as well as the "mode" button which can act as a SELECT stand-in for certain games. Cord length is generous, and made of a flexible material. Overall? Incredible recreation of this classic design, strongly recommended for classic Sega fans. MY ONLY COMPLAINT: One of the two controllers I ordered (got one black and one clear blue) arrived with shipping labels straight on the packaging for the controller itself. No outer box, no bag, just the controller box with labels stuck right on the face of it. With some patience I was able to peel it off with nothing left ruining the box art, but that certainly wasn't ideal. More of a warehouse issue than anything to do with this controller, really. The other controller I received arrived in a bag, in perfect condition. The product itself, and retro-bit in general are definitely worthy purchases. Game on, gamers.

I tested this Retro-Bit Sega controller in RetroArch (Steam, Windows 10) on various arcade and Genesis titles; and playing games like Altered Beast, Strider, and Revenge of Shinobi felt like a breeze. The controller plays/feels like the old Genesis Model 3 controller from what I can recall, and I would not be surprised if Retro-Bit had access to Sega's designs. Buy this if you appreciate Sega products and quality controllers. The Sega "Official Seal of Quality" is genuine with this one; especially with it's really low price ($20 at the time of this review). Pros: - Nearly the same as a Model 3 Genesis controller. - Very responsive when testing familiar games; and being a cord-based controller, I detected no noticeable lag. Neutral issues: - D-pad has a "clicky" feel that I'm not used to; I thought the older Model 3 controller had a more "floaty" D-pad similar to the Logitech F310. - A, B, and C buttons are slightly raised in a way that may feel odd at first when sliding your thumb over them while pressing down on another (i.e. holding down B while moving to press C as well); yet it is easy to get used to. - Lacks the turbo buttons of the original Model 3 controller. - The cord is a great length for playing away from a large screen t.v., but long and obnoxious for PC players. Con, yet not a deal breaker: - Lack of weight in the controller itself.

Truly the best controller to enjoy 16-bit gaming. Accurate, responsive and enough buttons for any old school game. The simplicity of the technology means it's durable too! I've had mine for years!

Excelente control. Funciona a la perfección con el Sega Genesis Mini y es mejor control que el original, ya que con sus botones adicionales mejora la experiencia de juego en varios títulos. El cable es largo y se mira de buena resistencia. El acabado es muy bueno y es bastante cómodo. Este control lo utilizo en un Genesis Mini con Hakchi CE y hasta ahora me ha funcionado a la perfección en diversos emuladores, sólo hay que configurar los botones para cada núcleo o título de ser necesario.

This controller is a really accurate remake of the original controller. Retrobit has done a really great job making this! If you want to relive your sega genesis memories, this controller is for you! 🎮🕹

Le D-pad est excellent. Il ne pivote pas autant que sur une manette Saturn model-2 mais il va quand meme très bien pour les jeux de combat et tout le reste. Les 6 boutons sont parfaitement ajusté et plaisant à utiliser. Les boutons sur le dessus sont super pour émuler de la SS ou avoir suffisamment de boutons pour jouer a des jeux 2D PC qui sont fait habituellement pour une manette xbox (xinput). Vous pouvez changer le mode Xinput -> Direct-Input en tenant le bouton Start + B. Ca aurait été bien d'avoir un LED qui indique sur quel mode on est afin d'avoir ouvrir le panneau de configuration avant de lancer un jeu pour voir sur quel mode on était à la dernière utilisation. Si vous jouer sur émulation le Direct-Input est nécessaire car les bouton C et Z de la manette sont les Axes LT et RT de la manette xbox360, donc ils ne fonctionneront pas sur émulateur ou tout autres jeux retro qui requiert un simple bouton, d’où la nécessité d'avoir le mode Direct-Input.
