I was looking to replace an old worn out eurohike 45L rucksack for hiking and camping. I couldn’t afford expensive brands like osprey but wanted something durable but also lightweight. Never heard of the mountaintop company but I checked out their impressive website and looked at some YouTube reviews on this bag and took a gamble on them. I wasn’t disappointed, this bag is packed with great features and I love it, I’ve done 4 trips with it now one of which was a 26 mile hike and wild camp. Despite the fabric feeling thin initially the durability has really held up even after being dragged through hedges and it’s still good as new after 6 months. It’s also really comfortable on the back and shoulders and 26 miles with 10kg in it was no problem. My only criticisms is that the front pocket could do with being bigger as it’s quite tight once the main compartment is full, also it wouldn’t hurt them to put a zip in the bottom so you can access kit at the bottom of the pack. Possibly some zippered side pockets. Other than that, if your backpacking on a budget you won’t go wrong with this!

After pouring over the reviews for hours of many different backpacks in my price range, I purchased this for my son.After he used it a couple of times I noticed it just hung in the cupboard, I asked why?It is too narrow at the bottom so the higher up things get in the bag it becomes unbalanced, it try’s to pull you back. The top compartment makes this problem even worse, you simply can’t put anything in it as it adds to the unbalancing.The straps are made of very slippery nylon so even though you put them in place they constantly slip, so you are tightening them every time it’s used.I’m very disappointed in this bag, ironically the bag it replaced was at least 14 years old, used constantly and cost £12 , I can’t recommend it bag.
