Professional capabilities at a DIY price
The VDIAGTOOL VD30 Pro is a powerful tool that, while priced as a DIY tool provides capabilites that mechanics at any skill level can use to diagnose 'check engine' (OBD2) errors and clear trouble codes. As a DIY'er who owns multiple 100K+ cars, i found the VD30 PRO to be very helpful keeping my cars running. The tools is compatible with OBDII vehicles and covers most vehicles manufactured since 1996. It is also updatable so I expect that it will cover newer model years as they come out as well. I really liked the color and graphical user interface (UI) on the VD30 Pro, which is better than the mono and/or text-based UI in this price range. The UI is intuitive and user-friendly. It was easy to navigate through the tools menus to access diagnostic information, even without the need to consult any manuals or videos, and clear diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) when needed or after a repair is made. The unit is well constructed and feels sturdy feels capable of withstanding daily use. The cord connecting the unit to the OBD2 port was more than long enough to sit back comfortably in the driver's seat while reading a code and monitoring the dash lights to aid in diagnosing (or correcting) an issue. The VD30 is an invaluable tool for anyone wanting to repair their own cars, or to know when a problem exceeds your ability, and provides more features and a much better UI than most code readers in its price range. I know i will get a lot of use from it, and hope this review helps you as well.

Excellent OBDII scanner for the money
For the money this is an excellent little OBD scanner for the home DIYer. I tested it out on several vehicles (2002 Silverado, 2014 Camry, 2019 Mustang) and it was able to auto ID all of them. It of course has the standard code reading and clearing ability. But it also features I/M readiness, which is very helpful in emissions states. You can view and graph live data from a variety of inputs. It also has a couple features not often seen on budget scanners like a built in battery test, a code definition library, and ability to view freeze frame data. The scanner connects shockingly fast. It comes with free software updates and is easy enough to do using the included USB cable. Just go to the website and download the utility.

Works as expected and very user friendly
This unit works great and I use it whenever the check engine light comes on. My daily driver has over 300k miles on it and this unit is very handy when figuring out what’s wrong and if I need to repair it or take it to the dealership. Excellent value!!! Highly recommend!

Great Scanner for the money
I was able to use this scanner to clear codes on a Chevy Cruz turbo. I noticed it said make sure key is on. This car has a start button and key fob reckonizing features. It didn't work until I finally started the car? It did turn on thou with button ON. It said key on engine off? Maybe it's pilot error. IDK. I was able to find codes and clear them fairly easily and run diagnostics on real time running conditions to see if anything was not working. Thou the IM showed all components passed and the codes cleared were turbo, O2 sensor, throttle position, map, maf and misfire on bank 1. The car was in for repairs the week before so maybe they weren't cleared and were old codes? For the price and the small size of this unit. I'm happy so far but noticed it didn't give any warnings about needs service immediately as some of the more expensive units do. The unit works and other than the direction to turn key on engine off? It performs well and is a convenient little tool to have in car or your toolbox. Update: It seems that the push button (ON) is not the position that would put you on the ECM (DTC's stored) circuit side but the accessories ( Radio ) side of the ignition as keyed cars have used for many years. IDK. Also I noticed the VD 30 earlier model had extra troubleshooting suggestions to help with finding the problem that this upgraded unit doesn't seem to have anymore? ie. Check for loose, dirty or corroded connectors on wiring harness. etc. Also the rubber overmold has been eliminated too which was nice on the VD30. I hope in the future those features will comeback. The offset seems to be 98k DTC's instead of 10k the VD30 read.

Lots of info in the palm of your hand
The VD30 PRO code reader is a handy tool to have around. The VD30 PRO communicated well with all my vehicles. The cable for connecting the code reader is more flexible than some others l have used and is long enough to place the reader under your leg for a test drive. The VD30 PRO gives you access to pages of live data and will graph any four data points for a visual comparison. The screen is bright and easy to read. In fact it looks so good that I forgot that it is not a touch screen a couple of times. The large buttons make the menu easy to navigate and there is a button beep to confirm the button was pressed. The beep may be disabled in the settings. I had no problem connecting with any vehicle that I tried it on. Even though I have a large bi directional scanner in the garage the VD30 PRO will be a great tool to travel with it won’t take up much space and will provide tons of information if you need it. This will also be good to loan out to friends or relatives I might not feel comfortable loaning may other scanner to. The tool functions well and will provide a lot of information for the price. I don’t think you can go wrong having one of these.

Ich habe das Gerät getestet, es funktioniert einwandfrei, jedoch ist das Kabel für mein Fahrzeug zu kurz und in der Handhabung unpraktisch

Great DIY scan tool especially for those who are new to working on cars. Been using it for a few weeks now and the user interface is great and very easy to navigate through, which especially makes it very easy for a novis to find functions, unlike some high tech tool where you need to know what your doing. Talking about functions, the "MIL Status" function is great. It shows you how many miles back fault codes have been cleared. This could be especially useful while purchasing a used car, as if the codes have been recently cleared it could mean that the seller is hiding something. In addition, the live data and graphing features work well. It allows up to 4 Data pids to be graphed at a time and the Data pids load and update without delay/lag too, fairly responsive. Built quality is good too. Now I do have far more advanced scan tools compared to this as I regularly diagnose vehicles as a side hustle so I do have considerable experience with various diagnostic tools. That being said, this tool does not do anything advanced, such as resets, manufacturer specific data logs etc, it only reads generic OBD 2 data. However, you don't expect any thing at this price range to do any more than generic OBD 2 either. So that's ok. Pros - Decent build quality - Ability to read freeze frame - Good graphing ability - Decent speed - Good user friendly interface. Cons - Only reads Generic obd 2 data. - No special functions. (Not expected in this price range anyways) - Battery test only shows voltage. (Can perform the same with a multimeter) To Conclude Overall this is an excellent starter diy scan tool. This tool does all the basic stuff you need and it does it well.

Ive been using this code reader for a week or so, ive found it be quick and easy to use able to read and clear code, its really handy for clearing codes triggered after inlet cleaning where the engine is running with hoses and sensors removed or disconnected. The tool also has basic live data information, engine rpm, coolant temp, long and short fuel trims oxygen sensor values, throttle position etc although basic info its essential for diagnosing vacuum leaks and faulty engine components. Its worth mentioning this tool does not have bidirectional control or advance module and component coding VDIAGTOOL has more advanced tools in its range capable of these tasks also the information available to the tool depends car being scanned. If you’re looking for a budget tool for clearing codes and reading basic live data this would be a good choice and is great value.
