Kuhn Rikon Swiss Metal Peeler 4”, Stainless Steel

2nd Update: I bought the plastic handled 3 pack and they’re worthless, I return them. I pull out the metal peeler and it just glides over the cucumber skin, the flesh is smooth and beautiful. I wish they’d make the handle two sides but the blade is thus far unbeatable by any peeler I’ve ever used. I’m excited to use on other vegetables. Buy it! Update: What a blade! I’m left handed and have always taken issue with peelers, in spite of the handle the blade cut the cucumber so smoothly and easily—the flesh was smooth! I’ll up my review to 4 ⭐️. I’m here to try the plastic handled peeler and give to friends I’m so excited about this tool. I cook for myself A LOT and eat salads daily—this has upped my kitchen arsenal. —OG Post— The handle has edges that are thin and metal. Hard to explain but it’s almost like half of it is missing so the fingers grip the edge. I’ve not used yet but I think the plastic might be more comfortable.

Very light, very sharp; a wonderful tool from Kuhn Rikon. Prior to this, my favorite peeler is the Kuhn Rikon Y-shaped ones like this, only plastic.

Initially, I really loved this tool as it was super sharp, ergonomically comfortable and really made quick work of my peeling tasks. However, none of that matters when it breaks after minimal usage! As the picture shows, the small tab on the blade that inserts into the handle came right off. There is no way to feasibly repair it. It’s not like I was using it as a carabiner to have off a cliff face! I was simply peeling vegetables. What a waste of time and money. Find something better. I am off to look for a new peeler.

Lightweight and SO effective

Great peeler! Probably the sharpest peeler that I have ever used. I haven't tried it on thick, tough skinned vegetables like a hard-skinned squash (like acorn or butternut squash), but it works great on the veggies that I've tried it on (cucumbers, carrots, lemons, etc.). Takes much less effort than any other peeler that I've used - it just glides through the peel. When I used it to cut strips of zest off a lemon, it did a beautiful job. Nice, wide strips. Easy to control, and it doesn't start digging into the white pith. When peeling a cucumber, there's no real drag as the peeler removes the peel - it feels almost like you're just waving your hand over the vegetable! The only negative that I have with it is that the frame/handle just doesn't feel up to the quality of the blade. I paid a little extra for the metal version (I looked at the plastic ones in a cooking supply store, and they just seemed too disposable, reminding me of the free toy you get in a fast food Happy Meal...), but it's just a thin, stamped piece of cheap sheet metal. I don't know if they're designed this way because they're meant to be the equivalent of a disposable razor, or for some other reason, but I do feel that a blade this good deserves a much nicer frame/handle.

Game Changer. So easy to use and sharp. I have always peeled my veggies by hand only to peel more than just the peel I will definitely purchase again if any ever happens to mine. Will also give as shower gifts. I try to give each upcoming bride a box of "my favorite things." This peeler will go in every box. I normally can just rinse with a little hot water and the peeler comes clean too.

This little peeler is amazing! It’s very light weight which I didn’t expect but Boy does it work like a charm. It doesn’t take any time at all to peel carrots potatoes, or anything else. Highly recommend.

I would not recommend buying this peeler. At first, I thought I'd found the perfect peeler. The blade was very sharp and it worked perfectly, better than any peeler I'd used. However, after about 6 months of light, sporadic use, the blade disengaged and fell off. I managed to pry the ends open enough to get the blade back on (a dangerous job, to be sure), but it promptly fell off again. This cycle repeated for a while, until I got fed up and have just bought a set of the plastic Kuhn Rikon peelers. Haven't used them yet; we will see...

This metallic peeler is excellent! It’s sharp, sturdy, and feels very durable. The quality is definitely high, and it makes peeling so much easier. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable kitchen tool.

This peeler is amazing. It's really easy to use and gets the job done quickly. I do want to mention that you should be somewhat careful how you use it and how quickly because it's very sharp and will take your skin or nail off

I didn’t expect to be excited about a kitchen peeler, but the Kuhn Rikon Swiss Metal Peeler has completely changed my opinion! I’ve always used a cheap 100-yen peeler, and this one seemed overpriced at first, but it’s honestly so worth it. It’s incredibly sharp, making peeling potatoes (and other veggies) effortless. The best part? I no longer cut myself while peeling! The ergonomic design feels comfortable in hand, and the quality is evident. Just a heads up—it’s really sharp, so be careful! But if you’re looking for a reliable, high-performance peeler, this one is a game-changer. Totally recommend it!
