Had a strong chemical smell and oily film all over the inside. Left it open for a few days but that didn't help. Washed and scrubbed the inside and outside with lots of baking soda and a rough cloth. Washed and rinsed it with the water from a black hose on a very sunny day. Wiped it out with a dry towel and placed in the direct sunlight for a couple of hours. Smell seems to be gone. Too bad it took all that extra work. Latches on each end can be accidentally unlocked when moving the container. Not sure I would buy these again. I bought two this time.
