Picky cat approved
My picky cat likes it. I like that it’s human grade and the company performs mercury testing for safety. Perfect amount of liquid.

Good nutrition and easy
Great for getting kitty to increase omegas, vitamins and liquid intake. A little pricy but even those little thin bones in those fish are good for kitty. It doesn't smell horrible and is easy and appears to have some good fish chunks (which I mash to slightly smaller still so it takes on the broth and gets eaten. It appears mostly broth but it stays in the tummy which as a cat momma I'm happy it doesn't make a 2nd appearance on carpet. win win... Kitty does not ever turn his nose up at this and walk away, he's excited by the favors and it suits his tummy nicely.

High quality cat food that does heavy metal testing. YAY
I want to support any company like this that does heavy metal testing esp in the seafood products. Everything about this product looks excellent. However, my cats do not get excited about it. i now use it as a topping on pate or kibble and that seems to help them consume it. I believe it to be a health food and won't hesitate to try different flavors. I also want to mention that my cats won't eat pure chicken or salmon either so maybe it is not the cat food but the cats.

my cat gives this ZERO stars!
got this because dani has been flipping her sheba wet food lately, bowl and all, after she licks up the gravy. so i was thinking "ok, she wants more gravy in her food, or she's just tired of this brand and it's time to find another brand..." omg, that was NOT the issue, apparently! this arrived last night after her dinner meal, so i decided to wait to introduce it to her today. her response was immediate. she took ONE SNIFF and started doing the fake disgust gag, while trying to flip the bowl to get it away from her dry food and water. i removed/caught the bowl just in time, before she could splatter it all over the floor. considering her nose is a ton more sensitive than mine, and it takes a bit for the "smells" to intensify so i get a small whiff of what she is complaining about to understand, the issue HAS to be something with the fish itself. normally salmon is the only wet food she will eat, but this time, it was an instant NOPE situation. what else was in there, yogurt or something????!!! Editing to add: Ok, so I tried to go look up the ingredients list, as I wasn't believing the ingredients list on the side of the can. I'm glad that I did, because according to their website, there's sunflower oil, tapioca starch, maltodextrin (a high glycemic index sweetener made from root starches), and guar gum (thickener that is very bitter). Case solved for why my cat gagged after one "sniff". Some of these items are considered detrimental to cats by the science community, particularly in "daily use". I mean, granted I don't see animal dairy or xylitol in here, but ingredients that "increase the life expectancy of salmonella and E coli" and "increase the occurrence of inflammatory bowel disease", are NOT what I want to feed my cat! Ingredients: Wild Tuna, Cutlets in Gravy: Tuna whole loin, Water, Sunflower oil, Calcium sulfate, Guar gum, Tapioca modified starch, Xanthan gum, Potassium chloride, Choline chloride, Vitamins [Vitamin E Supplement, Niacin (Vitamin B3), Vitamin B12 supplement, Vitamin A Acetate, Thiamine mononitrate (Vitamin B1), D-Calcium pantothenate, Pyridoxine hydrochloride, Riboflavin (Vitamin B2), Biotin, Vitamin D3 supplement, Folic Acid, Menadione sodium bisulfite complex (Vitamin K)], Minerals [Zinc proteinate, Ferric pyrophosphate, Taurine, Manganese proteinate, Copper proteinate, Sodium selenite, Potassium iodide]. Wild Salmon, Cutlets in Gravy: Salmon, Water, Sunflower oil, Calcium sulfate, Guar gum, Tapioca modified starch, Xanthan gum, Potassium chloride, Choline chloride, Maltodextrins, Vitamins [Vitamin E Supplement, Niacin (Vitamin B3), Vitamin B12 supplement, Vitamin A Acetate, Thiamine mononitrate (Vitamin B1), D-Calcium pantothenate, Pyridoxine hydrochloride, Riboflavin (Vitamin B2), Biotin, Vitamin D3 supplement, Folic Acid, Menadione sodium bisulfite complex (Vitamin K)], Minerals [Zinc proteinate, Ferric pyrophosphate, Taurine, Manganese proteinate, Copper proteinate, Sodium selenite, Potassium iodide]. Quality food or marketing manipulation? It's hard to say
Let me start by telling you that our 3 cats are INSANE for this food. It's super annoying. :) But they have been eating Friskies for as long as we've had them (rescues as kittens for 2 and the other was an adult who was barely alive and a bag of bones when we found her). We don't have the money to hire a personal chef for the cats, so we do the best we can. But the quality of Friskies has been declining for at least a decade, and the varieties of Friskies that were most loved by our kitties are no longer made. After finding out that Friskies is owned by Nestle, well, that was the last straw. Positives of Pure Cravings: > Cats love it. > "Tested" for mercury. > Cats eat the chunks, not just lick the gravy (like they do with the modern-day Friskies). > Smell is nasty, but the cats seem to like that in wet food. Negatives: > So it's tested for mercury. Big whup! It doesn't say it's "low" mercury. How can tuna be low mercury, anyway? > Watery. All 4 kinds in the variety pack are watery. Very little meat. > The "gravy" appears to be emulsified sunflower oil and guar gum, along with dextrose. These are not healthy ingredients. > The sardines are so huge in the can that it's hard to get them out of the can without making a mess. > Smell is nasty, and we don't like that in wet food. We've tried different, expensive, wet cat food over the years, and they have been disappointing enough that we always end up going back to Friskies. I don't consider that an option now -- because of Nestle's ownership, yes, but mostly because the cats leave most of the "meat" (meat-like, meat-shaped, meat-ish) in the bowl ... after they meticulously lick off every single bit of liquid. Whatever it used to make the Franken-meat in the Friskies, it's basically inedible to our cats. It looks spongy and fake, even less appealing in appearance than tofu. I am sick of the marketing manipulation and games of Big Food -- both with human and animal food. At this point, I am not sure the cats are better off being fed by humans vs. hunting their own food. I would say that Pure Cravings, like many of the other supposedly gourmet wet cat foods, are part of Big Food's marketing machine -- with fancy labels, cute backstories, and the same junk in every can. Some have a little more junk, some have a little less. But can any canned cat food be trusted? I don't think so. These assessments are my personal opinion. I don't have the money for lab tests. I also have trust issues.
