Durable, decent little stone, good results :)
I've been using this nearly a year now(11 months), I spend about 10-15 minutes per side of the blade on the 1000 & about the same for the 6000 side of the stone, it still sharpens/honing all of my knives (particularly my Global G-46 Santoku Knife) decently & sharp enough to slice through all meats & veggies with no problems, also fingers as well, so be careful ;) The stone has not chipped, broken off, or worn down at all for that matter, at least not in any visable way I can see, durable enough for me so far! There's no mould growth anywhere, both the rubber ring grip that sits around the stone & the rubber grip on the base are perfect with no wearing, blade holder still in great condition, for what it is it's still doing a good job after all this time, much better result than knife sharpeners that require you to drag the blade through, which does nothing other than giving them a jagged/rough burred edge which dulls a lot faster. Overall this is a decent little block that is still doing a damn good job for what it is.

Excellent customer service, high quality whetstone
I’m really impressed by the quality of this item. It has a well made bamboo base, which is sturdy and doesn’t slip. The stones work well to effectively sharpen my knives (I use this for my Japanese knives) - with clear instructions on how to effectively use it. I had some issues with care of the item and the customer service was really excellent. Very clear and quick communication, and they were able to offer guidance and even replace parts of the item. Worth buying from this company for the customer service.

Basic, but works well
This stone works quite well, and I used it to finally get my Buck knife into its best sharpness after having never sharpened it since 1980, when my wife gave it to me for Father's Day. It's actually the best sharpening stone I've ever bought and well worth the modest price. It's quite easy to use. It's very sturdy, and the holder makes a large positive difference over stones without such interfaces. I actually love using it. My wife was amused to see me start sharpening all the knives in the kitchen. But not the table or butter knives. Those obviously don't need to be sharp -- but maybe I could do it anyway! <smile> Not that it matters a lot, but the included "guide" that is supposed to help hold the knife at the right angle is virtually useless. If you have a knife without a curve, and of a particular width, it might hold the knife at the correct angle. My Buck knife, for example, is too narrow, and only about a half centimeter of the blade shows when its inserted into the guide. That obviously won't work.

Makes knives razor sharp
I have been using a steel to sharpen my knives for years. I thought they were fairly sharp, but after using this, I realise they were not. The difference is astonishing. Although this is a bit of a pain to initiate, as it has to be soaked for 15 minutes, it is well worth it if you are sharpening all your knives. It does make a bit of a mess, so use it where it can be easily wiped up. The knife angle guide just gets in the way. I used it initially to get an idea of the angle, but found it much easier without it once I got a feel for the angle. Initially I used too much pressure on the knife, but soon found it easier without a lighter touch. I guess the more you use it, the more you get used to it, and the easier it becomes. One thing I do know is that my knives are amazingly sharp now, and I will never use a steel again! Get this, you won’t regret it!
