Quick check for monitoring desktop type power supplies
I was working on a desktop computer, and intermittent failures, as I noted the +12 volt power was dropping [no 12 volts] The replacement power supply would have cost well beyond what this machine was worth! I told my customer, and I ended up getting him a newer computer with Windows 10 Professional, so he should be set for quite a while!

Very useful for anyone who services desktop PCs.
I never knew that PG means Power Good. This signal goes from the power supply to the motherboard to tell it, "everything is good, you can boot up now". Sure enough, I had a flaky power supply. The computer would not come up, yet all the voltages read good with a voltmeter. This tester quickly found the problem with the power supply, since it would not bring up the PG signal. Power supply got replaced, and all is well.

It's just ok.
This device will provide a quick way to see the voltages of your ATX power supplies that turn on, but not much more. It won't do a true load test for other faults that may force voltage changes to outside of spec. I connected this to a known bad power supply that shuts down under load, but this tester didn't show any problems. Also the plastic case build does not inspire confidence when other similar testers at the same or lower prices are enclosed in metal cases.

only one thing would improve this: the SATA port is not keyed at all meaning that the sata plug can go in either way, it does not damage the device if you get a wrong reading just plug it in the other way

I saw a video were Gamers Nexus was checking this brand out, Steve was quite pleased to see it also tested SSD's. Thats what I was hoping for.
