will a 64 oz container work with the E310?

If you haven't bought it yet, understand that the 64oz Low-Profile is MUCH wider at the base, and as such requires MUCH more ingredients, or it will simply spray everything at the lid. Expect twice the minimum contents compared to the 48oz or 32oz containers. My Renewed E320 came with the 64oz Low-Profile, and it's basically unusable for me on small batches. I have to make enough to feed 3-4 people or I get an incomplete blend. Now I'll have to spend ~$130 more on one of the others.

why is this model so much cheaper than any other vitamix?

I called Vitamix customer service with this question. The E310 and E320 models are cheaper because they have a shorter warranty. Vitamix wanted to create a high-quality budget blender and they did so by limiting the number of years on the warranty. They actually have a 2.2 horsepower motor - the same as the expensive Ascent series. The 5200 (Standard) has a 2 horsepower motor because it can only power the tall skinny jar with the shorter blades. The E310 and E320 blend as good as the Ascent 3500 (top of the line) - the only difference is features / automation.
