Top notch
I was reluctant to invest in these boots for a few reasons. (1) I had tried red wing's moc toe 3 times before to no avail whatsoever- I had tried 3 sizes and still had far too much heel slippage. (2) Others' reviews told tales of treacherous break-in periods, and I wasn't quite sure if I was up for that. (3) They're pretty darn pricey. COLOR (Copper rough & tough on foot and on left in pictures) I went ahead and purchased 2 colors (harness and rough & tough) because I couldn't tell which I liked better on my computer screen. Both arrived 2 days later. I tried both on and knew immediately which ones I'd be keeping. While the Harness have a more clean cut and polished look, the hide used for the uppers is WAY stiffer out of the box. I have no idea why that is, because redwing clearly states that all of their heritage boots are made of the same hide material and just tanned differently in-house. After wearing them for a full day, I have to say that I do not agree with others' reviews saying that break in has to be painful- at least not in the copper rough and tough color. I could see how the harness color could be a bit harder to break in. But, honestly, these were a joy to wear right out of the box for me, personally. I also think that the copper rough and tough color will have a better looking petina with time. Please note that I did apply Chelsea Leather Food to my boots just before snapping these photos, so the coloration is a bit darker than they were when I first got them. SIZING I went with a 9.5 knowing that that was the closest I'd gotten to a good fit in the RW moc. The fit was spot on. I typically wear a 10-11 depending on the brand. <10 in Cole Haan> <11 in Nike> <10.5 in adidas> <11 in Asics> <11 in Brooks>. So, this was about a full size down from my average shoe size. The heel cup does a phenominal job of keeping my heels from slipping and I have a comfortable amount of wiggle room in the toe box. BUILD These things are tough. I have NEVER seen a shoe so well constructed in my life. Everything about it says "I'm built to last." The leather is the nicest leather I've ever seen used on a workboot. It's strong, sturdy, and just pliable enough to mold to your foot perfectly with time. Whether you're looking for a high quality pair of boots to wear on the job or a tribute to traditional American craftsmanship to wear with jeans on the weekend, look no further. Trust me, I did my research (probably too much) before deciding to go with these. If you can find a store near you to try them on before ordering, I strongly recommend you do that. If you're not able to, then just go into this knowing that you might have to exchange them a few times before you find the right size. And remember not to get discouraged if you can't get these particular boots to work for you size-wise. Try out some of Red Wing's other boots- I've obviously found all of them to have a unique fit. Hope this helped! All the best.

Great boots but watch out for the size. They run large.
This is the 2nd set of Red Wings I've ever purchased. Just a heads up, the reviews are true. These shoes run large. Most people go down 1 size but if you wear a 9.5, it's best to size down to an 8. Yes..........1.5 sizes down. Don't ask me why because I really don't know. I had spent a good hour at a Red Wing store getting fitted and trying on various sizes. Size 8 if you normally wear a 9.5. Thank you Pierelli Global Brands for sending me the boots quickly and at a very good price. Now about the boots........it will suck the first 2-4 weeks of wearing them. When new, the leather is stiff and quite unforgiving. Especially if you are like me where I had to size down 1.5, it starts off pretty tight. However, be patient with them. Put on a layer of boot oil to help break them in, wear some thick socks, and nurture it a bit. The insole will start to conform to your feet and the leather will stretch and soften. How quickly it breaks in will depend on how often you wear them but I notice a change after wearing them everyday for about two weeks. Once that happens, these things will be your best friend. The shoes will feel like they were custom molded to your feet. And the beauty is that they get more comfortable the more you wear it. I had literally hiked 3 miles in my old pair of 9111 Classic Round models without a problem. My best advice is to try them on first! Either at a Redwing store, or somewhere that carries Redwing shoes with a knowledgeable salesman. Just remember the leather will stretch so make sure they fit snug brand new. Specifics about this model, they are very stylish and versatile. You can wear them with some dark jeans for a night out, or it can work with faded jeans for casual, or whatever. You can even wear these out to work all day, come home, polish it up and put them back on for a date. It's very very versatile! I purchased the black leather model and I almost don't want to use them because it might seem a little too formal. It also looks delicate which makes me not want to wear it too much to scuff up. Don't get me wrong, they are by no means delicate. These babies can take a beating and then some. But it just looks so clean when new I just want to baby them. Given another 6 months, I'll probably be living in these things. Another thing to keep in mind about the Iron Rangers is that they have no traction in the snow. A picture of sole will tell you everything. It does not have any lugs/treads at the bottom which keeps it from getting decent traction on the ground. They are made to be "work boots" but I wonder sometimes because of the sole. Either way, just make sure you be careful when the weather acts up. Lastly, make sure you get yourself some type of boot oil or polish to treat it every month. These things are made of thick leather which will last forever if periodically cared for. Most dirt and debris can be solved with a wet cloth and a brush, but if you live in a city where there is constant exposure to road salt, oils, and chemicals, its best to oil them up regularly. Overall, these things are fantastic! I would recommend these to anyone looking for a stylish boot that will last for years. If you are looking for something comfortable immediately out of the box, then they might not be for you. But otherwise, I'll gladly recommend them. They are pretty pricey. That is about all the advice I can give that hasn't been said already on other reviews. Hope this helps.

These are great boots overall — well made, comfortable after break-in, and the design and craftsmanship are what you’d expect at this price point. However, after wearing them for a few weeks and properly breaking them in, I noticed something wasn’t right. The left boot’s side leather is significantly softer and thinner than the right boot. After checking more closely, the difference in leather thickness is obvious, which affects support and structure on one side. This isn’t something that was noticeable when new and only became clear after normal wear. Unfortunately, due to this manufacturing inconsistency, I had to return the boots. I’ve taken photos to clearly show the difference and attached them to this review. It’s a shame because they are otherwise excellent boots, but consistency at this level really matters.

Love the look of this solid, tough boot. Have always been a fan of the quality of Red Wing Boots. Now have 3 pairs, and like others, the more you wear, the more comfortable they get. All leather interior, well worth the price.

作り自体はヨーロッパブランドより雑ですが、そこはアメリカらしさとして納得。革質はマットで質実剛健で多少ぶつけても味になり、多少乱暴に履いても大丈夫。
