I'm a retired math teacher who spent 25 years with middle school students. I used this book in conjunction with the tutoring I've done since I retired from the classroom. If you are a parent, it's great to use in helping your student. NEVER think that you can't help your child. I've had students say they were shown a "different way" by their parents. I always say if it works, who cares??? This is a great resource

Great practice for kids

This is a good book for teaching basic math concepts. It explains them in a very easy to understand format without making you feel, well, like a dummy. The author was fantastic. I was impressed. The reason for the 4 stars is because an entire answer section is missing from the book. Yes, I know the answer keys follow each chapter and they aren't in the back of the book. So while grading my 8th grade homeschooling child (who is using this book as a review/breakdown explanations), I had to stop and do every problem for the entire chapter to make sure she was correct. That wasn't fun while teaching two other grade levels plus juggling a baby. I'm not a lazy teach. But I am a busy one. Otherwise, I love this book and it works well to give her the foundations she needs to succeed in Pre-Algebra and Algebra this year.

The best book for homeschool kids very help

Loving this book. I'm going cover to cover and I'm honestly surprised by the small pieces of information that I never knew... Names for things, easier formuli for equations etc. Really good stuff

If your like myself and you have no math skills what so ever, you struggled with math your whole life, and your looking to improve your math skills, I can almost promise you this book will have you doing math you’ve never even imagined you could. I personally worked through the entire book from start to finish (which was a little painful at times because I already knew some of the stuff at the beginning of the book) but I did that so that I could really get myself into “math mode” and one week after doing this book, I’m doing algebra, long division, exponents, graphs, integers, fractions and percentages like it’s nothing. I swear to you if your reading this and looking for a good book to start with I would highly suggest this. Some of the reviews point out a few grammar errors and whatever, get over it. This book is amazing and has helped me so much. I can’t stress enough, your best bet is to do what I did and go start to finish (although you don’t need to, you can just jump to the categories you need help with if your looking to just brush up on specific topics, which is another reason this book is great is you don’t HAVE to go start to finish you can just jump). Amazing book. Highly recommend, there is also another book that goes with this book I have both and it really helps to go through both of them.

Reminds me of why I failed algebra (you have to attend the classes). This book explains all the rules that I missed by not being in class! As I am in my sixties the process is slow however the book is very helpful.

The Basic Math & Pre-Algebra Workbook For Dummies is a solid resource. The explanations are clear, and the topic summaries make it super easy to follow along and review. I attached a photo of the white mark on the cover it looks like there might’ve been a sticker there before. The crease down the middle is harder to see in the picture, but it’s there. Other than that, the content itself is excellent. Definitely recommend the book if you need a simple math refresher.

Explains with many examples different types of problems. Good for people that have little knowledge of math basics(like myself)
