I had my first breakout of genital herpes just over 2 weeks ago. I can't say much since it was my first time however I think this stuff does help - I started to apply it maybe 3 days into the outbreak and once the virus progressed into ulcers/blisters, I noticed a crazy burning sensation that lasted for about 10-15 long seconds. every time I'd apply this. Deep breathing def helps while it burns - for a while I thought about not applying it but I thought it would be better to just go for it. Something else that seemed to help the most was this stuff called Canker-Rid. It's propolis - I've been applying it shortly after the HClear. It burns the worst but it has hands down helped the most - there's literally no pain for hours and seems to hinder the viruses progression a ton. I re-apply the Hclear and the propolis every couple hours - the burning and stinging is reduced with every application. I also use some essential oils made by "Natural Healing Oils" for fissures. I find this helps keep the irritation down and it just a good healing agent. I also have been taking some supplements: zinc, echinacea, goldenseal, l-lysine, b vitamins (cell repair) and a general multi. I also recommend stool softeners. My routine is basically the essential oil, hclear, and then the propolis. Along with the supplements. My doctor also prescribed me some antiviral pills and cream but I'm pretty confident I can fight this with the HClear, Propolis, supplements, and essential oils alone. The product is not solid enough to be put into the type of tube that it is. Not knowing this, I opened the tube and squeezed as if the product was more thick or stiff if you will, and dispensed way too much and wasted a lot of it. However it works as advertised off used per instructions and am very pleased with results and the outbreak was way less severe and more manageable . I would recommend it and would buy it again. Just follow instructions carefully and it will work fine.

Leaves a thick, sticky film. Smells so bad you have to wear rubber gloves or there will be traces of the scent on your hands/body for hours. A much better solution would be tea tree oil, etc.

This is an excellent product and the tiniest little bit is enough to soothe symptoms. Whether you’re having pain, itching, or both, this topical ointment makes a real difference. Sadly, I had to take one star away for the smell. I also recommend a daily capsule of lysine, 500 mg, to counteract any extra arginine in your diet. Both of these are amino acids. It has been found that outbreaks occur when your dietary arginine levels are too high. Of course, stress plays a big part in outbreaks too. For stress management I would highly recommend the free meditation app call the insight timer. UPDATE: After trying to use this a few times, and finding the smell overbearing and unpleasant, I had to throw it away. I am going to try a topical lemon balm ointment that looks more promising. I ordered it from Amazon and it’s in a glass jar with a black top.
