A game changer in more than one way.
I purchased the book because I had seen the Savannah Bananas play in their world tour in Kansas City this spring. It was the best sporting event experience of my life , and that peaked my curiosity about the title of this book. Once I started reading it I could not put it down. When I ordered it I assumed it would be a book about baseball , but it is much more than that. It really is about being happy and successful in life. The book is an easy read as Jesse Cole has a very engaging writing style. He talks a lot about his own personal experiences , but also draws upon the wealth of knowledge of others in our world who have revolutionized aspects of our society. When he talks about fans , the word means more than just customers in a seat in a baseball stadium. Jesse says that you have to be your own fan first , but that family members , friends , coworkers , and customers are also your fans. We should be doing things in our life that make us happy , while also striving bring joy to others one event at a time. This requires diving into new experiences wholeheartedly , learning form missteps , and growing upon the gains. He gives numerous examples about how this was put into place in his experience in building a baseball team from scratch and making it the most popular summer league team in the world . Jesse also portrays how these practices have been incorporated in his own life to bring him joy and fulfillment . My advice to you would be to buy the book, read it over , and take mental notes as you will find many points to incorporate that can make your own life better ( and also reading the book is great fun , just as a-peeling as a Bananas game .)

I've reviewed more than 600 business books over the past 23 years for the Hamilton Spectator. This book is far and away one of the best. As Jesse writes, every business is in the entertainment business. So you have to entertain always if you have any hope of attracting attention. You can chase after customers like everyone else. Or you can choose instead to build fans. Jesse shares exactly how they did it. The 5 Es of his Fans First Way can apply to any business or organization. The only downside to this book? You'll want to see a Savannah Bananas game for yourself. But the games sell out and there are thousands of fans on the wait list.
