Review: I appreciate if you could press the like button. Excellent book for start learning programming in Julia. Covers the basics and some intermediate stuffs.

Lovely intro to Julia and general approaches and perspectives on programming. The exercises are reasonable in number and scope such that one can do all of them if they wish -- and have enough substance to be both informative and somewhat fun! They vary from just making a simple function to then solving a simple puzzle. But the key is the puzzles are well chosen (e.g. many are from a famous old radio show) - so there's some pleasure in solving them. And in the solving and connecting broad ideas to minutiae of implementation is where one actually learns. A great beginner's book. -- Does not go deep into all the alternate ways of doing things, but that's wise for what it is. For a book that's broader and more detailed in coverage, but less punch "Julia for Beginners" by Erik Engheim is an excellent option and compliments this text well.

As expected. Rework of the Think like a Computer Scientist using the Julia language.

I like the O'Really books normally, but this was on the lower side of the spectrum. As the title says, it teaches you to think like a computer scientist, but more on a formal, less on a Julia level. It helps to establish a first impression of Julia and how to do things the Julia-way, but in total I learned not that much Julia, which I thought this book would teach me. If you know nothing about programming and want to take a look at computer science, this book might be for you; if you want to learn Julia, it is not.
