it saved an old dishwasher
My dishwasher is like 15 years old or so, but I still didn't want to have to purchase a new one. So when the detergent dispenser door stopped working, I was hoping it was just a matter of replacing a part or two. Lo and behold, this was the case. Not only that, but it's really easy and fast to replace, in my case. The hardest part was finding the right sized Torx driver bit to remove about a dozen screws, to get at the wax motor, which is located inside the front door of the dishwasher. The wax motor itself isn't even held in by screws or anything - it's just a pair of wire terminals to swap out, and a couple of plastic clips that hold it in place. Just don't rush it getting it in and out of the plastic clips, and you'll be done in no time.

EASY DIY INSTALL !!
A little pricier than for other models but worked perfectly. Took I would say about 5 minutes to install and the soap dispenser door works flawlessly. Be careful taking the old one out so you do not break the tabs holding it in. Reconnect the two wires in the same manner you took off the old motor. Then just line up the soap dispenser slide lever so it snaps around the ridge on the new motor post then snap the whole thing into place. I would have given this a 5 star review if it would have been a few dollars less expensive.

Easy fix-great result
I used this “wax motor” (a term with which I was not familiar) as a direct replacement in our dishwasher soap dispenser. The replacement process was basic and was without complications. Before replacing this “wax motor” we had 100% failure with the soap dispenser opening. Since the replacement we are enjoying 100% success with the soap dispenser opening. I believe Maytag manufactured our dishwasher.(Maytag manufactures appliances for many brand names.) Easy fix-check out YouTube for “how to” videos.

Incomplete Order
Ordered 2, paid for two, got one, no way to resolve other than send it back. Most annoying.

Glad I bought it!
We had an issue with the soap door not opening at times with our 16-year old dishwasher and after researching, I found this could solve that problem. I decided to order it and it has solved my problem! The installation was relatively quick - remove a few screws from the door panel, access and remove the old motor and install this one. Maybe took 10 minutes, including getting the right screw bit for remove the torx screws. It has been 6 months since I installed it and I haven't had any issues with that door not releasing.

Still working after seven months!
It is still working after seven months - I don't like to leave a review right away because you don't know if it works unless it 'keeps on working'. I thought the price is high but am captive of course to the manufacturer.

Wax motors are neither motors nor wax, but are perfect where needed.
The product was used in Maytag (Whirlpool) products dishwasher and can also be used in door lock assemblies. A simple product to be used by someone who understands the repair process.

My dishwasher works again!
I ordered this part after determining that mine was probably malfunctioning. Although I couldn't find an appliance repair person who could tell me a definitive way to test it, they all said that replacing it was almost certain to solve my problems (soap dispenser not opening during wash). It did!
