Will this work with a .187 / 3/16ths piece of plexiglass?

If you are going to use both sides of the channel with 2 pieces of 3/16" plexiglass, no, there is too much tension on the center "I" part of the channel. If it is just going to be an edging and you are only going to use one side of the channel, it will be real tight but could work. I used mine to connect 2 pieces of 1/8" plexiglass and works well. Hope this helps

Is there a product available for 1/16” thick panels that otherwise has identical properties (I.e. clear, H-channel)? I looked and could find none.

I know of none, but that does not mean there aren't any. If there aren't and the pieces of plexiglass are not too large or there are minimal flexion forces on the plexiglass, a clear packing tape my work ??
