Works well for me. Better than that cheap Harbor Freight one.

I don't use these much but they work well when necessary cause I don't have time for games

I used this compression tester on my car a few days ago. I have no experience with doing a compression test but it seemed simple enough so I watched a few videos and went at it. This tester was easy to set up and get hooked into my car. The gauge is easy to read and the hose feels OK. It has a pressure release valve on it so that made it easy quickly switching from cylinder to cylinder. Making sure it was in tight was a bit awkward though. You have the twist the tube but the braided outer part moves without the inner tube moving. You will need someone else or a camera to be able to read the pressure at first crank or if it isn’t holding pressure. It wasn’t long enough to put against the wind screen to read while sitting in the car. Overview: It is a basic compression tester that works. Pros: Easy to read gauge Easy to use Extra fittings Pressure release valve for easy and safe disconnect. Cons: Short. Unless you are doing this with a buddy you will need a camera to be able to ready the pressure at first crank. It feels like the steel braid might break early on but I don’t expect the tube that holds the pressure to break. Conclusion: Money well spent on a solid piece of equipment. I was able to get a rough engine health check with this and will hopefully allow me to diagnose any future issues.

for both myself and a friend I gifted this 6 pce set to while it was on sale here on AMZN for the same price as the 4 pce kit (3612) I have not tried it on Truck etc at this point, but there are 4 Adapters including a long reach one. KB.

I have no other gauge to test this against, but on my test run this afternoon, the compression numbers I came up with were pretty much right where they were expected to be. Except for one cylinder, which is about 65% of the others. I had looked into renting a similar meter locally, but it was poorly reviewed due to being very inaccurate. I did have to dock it one star. I probably would have rated this 3½ starts if I could have. First of all, the instructions for using the solid extension were too vague--it only has a rubber tip and no threads, so are we supposed to just hold it in place in the spark plug hole? I was able to use the threaded attachment on the hose for the spark plug holes, but I had trouble keeping the adapter screwed on. I ended up doing the compression check without the adapter, since the 14mm threads fit perfectly. What really failed me, though, was the gauge itself. For some reason, the needle was past the post at the "0" mark, and the pointer half of the needle was slightly inclined. I was able to knock the front face off of the meter (it is steel, and pressed on snugly) with a plastic scraper. After lifting the needle back to the right side of the post, I straightened the pointer and reattached the front face, and it has been working for me. Aside from that hiccup, everything is well built and sturdy.
