The Baofeng / BTech charging stand normally wants 10-12 volts to charge the radio. This is a problem for someone who wants to standardize their "devices" to use USB charging. Enter this cable. It internally takes the 5 volts supplied by the USB port and doubles it to 10 volts. As it does this, the available current is cut in half due to Ohms law. The bottom line is, this cable works, but results in a slower charge rate than you may be used to. For some, this may be a reasonable trade-off. For others it may not. YMMV. Pros: - enables charging from any available USB port or charging adapter - small, lightweight, and it does work. Cons: - You still need to carry around the charging stand - Charging is slow on traditional 500mA spec USB ports

I wanted a method to charge my BaoFeng BF-F8HP radios other than plugging in to a 110V wall outlet. This cable allows me to use the standard charging base but plug it into a USB outlet. Now I can take the charger with me in my vehicles, and keep the radios charged without having to use or buy an inverter. It works very well for me. Glad I have it.

This is a must-have if you plan on taking your radio(s) on the road or need to be mobile. This works seamlessly with your traditional base charger (not included) and replaces the AC adapter in place of this USB cable. I used these for my travel trailer when AC power is not always available, but 12v USB plugs are readily available. I also use these in my vehicle as well if I'm not using the direct 12v connection. Build quality is good, but nothing special. I would recommend.
