High quality device to sharpen knives
I'm just an amateur home cook but every now and then I feel my knives getting dull. I usually take them to Sur La Table to be sharpened but was interested in being able to do it at home myself. I've purchased knife sharpeners before as gifts and they were less than impressive, so I was excited to try this Ultra-Edge Diamond and Electric Knife Sharpener from Mueller. I was worried that the base didn't have suctions or a crank stabilizer (found on apple corer devices), but the machine is designed with a safe place to put your hand while cutting, and I didn't find it to be moving during operation. The instructions are clear as to how to use the device, with both slots on the 1 and 2 side, as well as how many passes are required for each, depending on the dullness of the knife. The device does have a catch for the shavings and a safety in case it overheats. Everything is clearly stated in the instructions. After sharpening, I could see where the blade had been sharpened, and I tested it on tougher tomatoes, as that usually is a good determiner on how sharp a knife is (for me). If I have to really push and make a few passes before the knife breaks the skin, it's not sharp. If it cuts through easily, it is. Obviously I'm not a professional chef or blacksmith, but found this device to work well on my knives. I ran about 7 knives of varying sizes and brands through.

Hey, just get it!
I've used a few different tools for sharpening kitchen knives. And had little to no success with any of them. Hey, lousy tools do lousy work. This thing is motorized, but is no bigger than one of the non-motorized tools I bought. It took a little practice to put the knife in and keep it pressed against the guide. I still get it in wrong occasionally. But if I'm careful, and in no hurry, I now get some seriously sharp knives for the wife to use. Is a wonderful experience, to work in the kitchen with a truly sharp cutting tool. I'm sure other tools, with a lot more expense and more user expertise, can probably get a sharper edge. But this thing will be a revelation to someone who's never had a decent edge on a kitchen knife. Don't buy the cheaper junk that doesn't move the cutting edge for you, and relies on just the movement of the knife in the sharpener. Get this thing, and enjoy!

Solid construction
I had considered a number of knife sharpeners and decided on this one mainly because of it being made in "Austria" which I felt might give me more quality than a brand made in China. It is well made in many ways but does not have the power I need. It stalls out when under a bit of a load. It is ok for light sharpening applications but not if you want to do a number of knives in succession. There is a thermal override that turns the motor off to prevent overheating which occurs after only sharpening a few knives, you then have to wait for the motor to cool down before resuming. I only recommend this sharpener for those who may only want to do 3 or 4 knives at a time and have light sharpening needs. I now wish I would have bought a heavier duty sharpener. This is the first electric sharpener I have owned, up to now I used a sharpening stone by hand. I will try to use this for awhile longer and have to train myself of the need to go slow and only a few knives at a time. I did find out that the second sharpening was better than the first as the angle was better established on each knife. But still the motor override is a pain and irritating, the motor heats up way to fast.

Don’t buy this sharpener
This is not a great product, over heats, does not handle professional French knives very well and will stall if pressing on the knife to slide through the wheels. I’d return but my time ran out n which to do so. Spend a few more bucks and get a better one. Too bad, you’d think they would know how to build a better sharpener. NOTE TO BUYER: THE SELLER HAS STEPPED FORWARD AND GRACIOUSLY EXTENDED TO ME A REFUND FOR THE PRODUCT. MY THANKS FOR THIER EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE WHEN THEY DO NOT HAVE TO. I WILL BY FROM THEM AGAIN SHOULD THEY REPRESENT A PRODUCT THAT IM INTERESTED IN. THE SELLER SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED ‘at fault’ FOR A MANUFACTURER’S PRODUCT THANKS AGAIN FOR THE REFUND

This Pro Electric Easy to Use knife sharpener is a MUST
I have always used manual knife sharpeners. This Muellet electric is so much easier on the arms. Every chef must have it in their kitchen. Solid. Well built. Compact yet sturdy and stable. Super fast and my knives have never been sharper. Works great with both steel and ceramic knives. I would love to use it on my scissors but the manual says not to use on scissors. Oh well.great value for under $30

Professional knife sharpener.
This is a professional sharpener you would find in a commercial setting. I was surprised by how heavy and study this sharpener is. It stayed put while sharpening the knife. Very easy to use, I sharpener every knife I had in my kitchen after it arrived. The sharpener is made well, the housing is not cheap plastic. I love the fact that is had a compartment that collects the metal shavings. I am glad I choose this product

It's a weak knife duller.
It is very weak. The motor is noisy and rattles, and when attempting to sharpen a knife, it keeps stalling/stopping. You have to be extra carefulhow you put a knife in the slot. It is very easy for the knife edge to touch the top of the grinding wheel instead of the side, dulling it. I had a sharp knife, and by the time I went thru the sharpening sequence, it was dull. Very dull!

I used it the first day I got it and I absolutely love it. I is so easy to use and it sharpens my knives beautifully. It’s not as loud as I thought it would be. Great buy and I would definitely recommend to anyone.
