Steve Epting also does a fantastic job on this book. His style is perfect for the Sentinel of Liberty, and he stays with the book for the bulk of it! Brubaker's story is phenomenal! This book in particular is really strong, with the Winter Soldier arc, but the rest of Brubaker's run is definitey worth the read. In terms of reading order this is how I collected it: 1. Captain America: Winter Soldier (This book): Issues 1-9, 11-14 2. Captain America: Red Menace: Issues 15-23 3. Captain America: (spoiler) Death of Captain America: 24-42 4. Captain America: The Man With No Face: Issues 43-48 5. Captain America: Road to Reborn: Issues 49-50, 600-602 6. Captain America: Reborn: Issues: Reborn 1-6 7. Captain America: The Trial of Captain America Omnibus: Issues: CAPTAIN AMERICA: WHO WILL WIELD THE SHIELD? 1; CAPTAIN AMERICA (2005) 602-610; STEVE ROGERS: SUPER-SOLDIER 1-4; CAPTAIN AMERICA (2005) 611-619, 615.1; CAPTAIN AMERICA (2011) 1-10 8. Captain America: The Return of the Winter Soldier Omnibus: Issues: Captain America and Bucky 620-628, Fear Itself: Book of the Skull, Fear Itself 7.1: Captain America, Winter Soldier 1-14, Captain America (2011) 11-19 Hopefully that helped you guys! If you choose to buy, which I highly recommend, enjoy this great ride! Review: Fantastic story and product - Fantastic story and product. The hardcover is awesome and the artwork is great. I don't know if the paperback edition gives the same extras but this gives some variant cover art, a note from Brubaker about how he conceived the ideas for this plot, and the original script/storyline he pitched to marvel to make this all happen. Great product for winter soldier fans.

Ultimate Hardcover
I just saw the Winter Soldier in the theatre and wanted to catch up the original graphic novel. Had a hard time deciding between this hardcover and the Winter Soldier: Ultimate Collection TPB. I'm glad I picked this one up because it apparently collects the same issues of Captain America #'s 1-9, and 11-14. This version features a dustjacket of Cap's shield from the movie, and the actual HC is matte white with faded section of Cap's red, white, and blue shield.. very nice design. As far as extras, there are a few pages at the end of variant covers, sketches, and also Ed Brubaker's original proposal of Captain America's plot which got him the writing job.

I must say that it is AWESOME. Great story
After watching the Captain America films of MCU, I couldn't help wanting to read the stories from comic books, and this book was where I started. I must say that it is AWESOME. Great story, nicely told, no matter you're a fan of CA or WS started from MCU like me, just go ahead and enjoy the great work of Ed Brubaker. TBH, I even ordered more of Brubaker's CA books, because THIS really made me want to read even more.

Good idea ruined by production. Had to force myself to finish it.
The base plot in this is good, but I couldn't get over all the dumb costuming and character aspects. Sharon comes off as a pining ex-girlfriend, concerned too much with feelings. Plus the notion that as a soldier she can almost keep up with Captain America is insulting. On top of that, the ridiculous SHIELD costumes have to go. White boots and holster belts on black spandex? Finally Cap teams up for the final battle witha lame B character and the ending rushes to conclusion.

MY SON SAYS THAT I HIT A HOME RUN ON THIS GIFT FOR HIM!!!YEAH.
I wish I could tell you how hard it is to please my 15 year old son who is a Marvel buff:/ but he wanted me to get on line and leave an excellent review for the seller,as well as the choice of product/book and price. This was definitely on his high mark list,so I had to let everyone know that YOU SHOULD BUY THIS BOOK FROM THIS SELLER!!!

The Perfect Captain America Story to get anyone's attention! Brubaker and Epting, an already proven combination, bring back a character kept dormant, intentionally, by the publisher! The tale keeps Cap's long standing motto live within it, as it is always "Moving Forward". The concept of the Winter soldier, as well as the power play to obtain the cosmic cube, deliver a sense of honest urgency. Considered, even by the Marvel alumni, to be among the top 10 stories the publisher has ever produced. Once you give it a read, you'll understand that this book expects readers to have comic book tropes shattered by it's thrilling plot! If you had to bring a character back from the golden age of comics, this is how it's done!!!!!
