Stops the itching and provides a cooling sensation on the skin when applied. I use this lotion faithfully and take it with me when traveling. I have recently had issues with skin breakouts that itch like the Dickens, but the lotion helps. I prefer to use it at night after a shower, because the cooling sensation helps calm the skin,especially when it is red and warm from a flare. Will always keep this on hand, and yes it will smell like menthol, but I love it!

I've been using this lotion for years. It works great when my skin is dry and itchy. When my son had poison ivy we purchased 5 or 6 different lotions (some specifically made for poison ivy) but Sarna gave him the most relief. I love the scent and I'm usually very sensitive to scents. It's not floral or fake smelling. It's made with camphor and menthol so maybe that's what the scent is. It just smells so clean! Sarna is also very cooling on the skin so it's great for sunburn or even if you want to cool your skin on a hot day. One of may favorite products!

Whenever I am in the sun for more than 2 hours, with sunscreen on, hats etc, I get horrible itchy heat rashes on neck, arms. I bought this product by chance to try it. This product feels so soothing, maybe a little burning, cooling sensation. But after the cooling sensation goes away, all itching stops immediately. I spent days by the pool and beach for our week vacation. After shower, towel dry, I applied this product from Neck to feet exposed by sun. Immediately soothing, slight burning, cooling sensation. All itching stopped. My 7 year old daughter, when applied on her, she cried, she said it was burning for her, I applied a generous amount. The other time I applied on her I used a little, let it soak in for 5 mins, then applied regular body lotion, she said it was better, slight burn but no crying, no itching on her. For myself, I applied generously. I will definitely buy this again. I didn't apply to face, I use the cortizone for any face heat rashes. The cooling sensation will definitely burn eyes, so NO FACE application of the SARNA lotion.

This was suggested by my Dermatologist for the itchy skin on my back (BTW itchy skin seems to be do to bra elastic/material) I will say that it does help more than other lotions I've tried. But the scent of the Sarna is powerful and to me unpleasant and it stays and stays. Wish there was an unscented version...or is there?

I don't really know what happened but out of the blue I became CRAZY ITCHY. Like bad. My legs and back were soooooo itchy. I was waking up 2 or 3 times at night. I tried all kinds of things but then I talked to my mom and she brought me a bottle of Sarna that was rather old. (8 years old-no joke.) She also brought me Gold Bond in the green bottle. I tried the Gold Bond first and it helped. Then I tried the Sarna. The smell is bad. So medicinal strong that it made my eyes water, my husband moved out and my children slapped me. But, it was 8 years old. So, I ordered a new bottle and let me tell you, the smell is BAD. But it seriously, seriously seriously helped stop the insane itchies. Are you so itchy that you are making yourself bleed? Are you crying from the constant itch? Try this stuff, then go shopping and watch everybody run away from you. This stuff is also good for social distancing. But in all seriousness, THIS STUFF HELPS!

I bought this for my raging skin as I’m pregnant and suspected to have ICP and nothing helps. This was highly recommended! The moment I got it in and tried it, I immediately bought two more, I know it’ll be gone within a week because I’m using it so frequently. It’s amazing!!! It provides an immediate, very strong cooling effect on your skin that detracts from the itch while keeping your skin moisturized. I have to reapply very often, each time the itch is overwhelming and I need relief. It smells exactly as you might expect a menthol lotion to smell... at first. But After just a few minutes it dulls and smells floral (mind blown) and is INCREDIBLY pleasant!!! 7.5oz is smaller than I expected, so if you’re gonna need it for more than a few days, I’d recommend buying two. PLEASE SELL THIS IN A TUBE SO I CAN PACK IT WITH ME!!!

Have a few areas that itch sometimes for no apparent reason, like one ankle and the top of one foot. No rash or abrasion. Doctor says could just be dry skin in that area. But regular lotion didn't work. So, I tried this lotion, and it works great. The only drawback is it smells like medicine a little bit, but not super bad (like Ben Gay or something). It seems to work of a day or two and my areas do not always itch, but this lotion does the trick.
