Words cannot express how happy I am that the main series has FINALLY got its Blu-ray release! This series, like many others, was also my anime childhood. All the times in which I would wake up in the middle of the night (For no reason) as kid and would just turn on my TV and watch adultswim. Inuyasha was one of the anime series I remember getting the most excited for whenever I caught it on. Hearing the classic OP of ‘Change the World’ literally brought a tear to my eye. All the nostalgia rushing like a hurricane. Inuyasha is still a fun/great series nearly 20 years later. This was before the genre ‘isekai’ was even coined. From the characters and their relationships. The HD quality really brings the series out well in this release so far. The only complaints are the lack of extra bonus features (maybe with the English and Japanese casts) and doesn’t have widescreen support. It’s still shot in its original 4:3 aspect ratio. Other than that, I’m very satisfied with this release. I certainly can’t wait to collect the other parts. Thank you, Viz Media! Review: improved! new subtitles! - alright im only going to write this review because i own the inuyasha series seasons 1-7 on DVD, those ofcourse around season 5 look improved because inuyasha was made in a time when media hadnt turned digital just yet so eventually the artwork looks much better in a sense more HD right? well these blu rays that are a re release of Inuyasha are TOTALLY an improvement from the DVDs, these blurays will look amazing on any HD or 4K TV and the subtitles unlike the dvds subtitles are spot on! visual improvements are obvious from the start .uploaded some pics and a short video of the bluray running on a samsung4ktv This Blu-ray collection has the subtitles done over (it’s perfect translation so the original DVD’s lack this {it’s only included in these new Blu-ray releases}) so if you like to watch anime in sub the original writer of inuyasha Katsuyuki Sumisawa made sure this new release had the best subtitles! Overall this an awesome addition to a fans collection or anyone who enjoyed the toonami years.

Great bluray release.
Great bluray release. No complaints at all. This purchase gave me exactly what I was expecting. There are some minor issues when the camera pans long, but that's to be expected with old releases like this. Playback in PowerDVD or a newer player would probably sort this out. I think it's just a framerate issue stemming back to CRT screen interlacing.

It has “I WANT TO CHANGE THE WORLD.”
At times, thanks to the streaming services having copyright-cheap replacements for songs, they then turn around and print those versions onto physical media. Which is a deal breaker. Not the case here! “I want to change the world” is kept intact. Buy it if you want the original experience you can’t get anywhere else.

Had to get it
If you are like me and grew up watching inuyasha on adult swim late at night then the Blu Ray collection of innuyasha is a must have. I can't wait for the rest of it to come out =) this is only a portion of it not the entire series. So if you are one of those who would rather wait for the whole thing hold off a bit.

If you're a fan of Inuyasha, you won't regret getting this. As the first hundred episodes were done on film, this is a native HD release, not a digital upscale, so the quality jump compared to the DVDs and TV series is absolutely massive. There are some minor blemishes that make me think this was originally an interlaced scan, with what appears to be tiny artifacts from interlacing (ie. Scan lines) that is visible on some small edges, but they aren't distracting and you only notice it when you really look for it. The colors also seem ever so slightly off, and it's noticeable with Inuyasha's red robe as it appears less orange-red than I remember it being. The sky in some shots is also less of a vibrant deep blue than it is in the DVDs, but it's really only noticeable if you compare them side by side. I'm pretty nitpicky with these sorts of things though and overall the quality is still incredible. It's so clear you'll even sometimes be able to pick out dust particles, strands of hair, scratches, and brush strokes that were on the cels at the time of filming! In regards to extras, there's the textless opening and ending sequences, character profile cards that give a bit of information on each of the characters (which also appear at the end of each episode), and finally the best of them all is a 14 minute interview with the series writer Katsuyuki Sumisawa which goes over his background, his work with Inuyasha, and gives a lot of insight on the production process of Inuyasha, the Final Act, as well as Dragonball interestingly enough since he also worked on that. You should definitely watch this one! Now the biggest plus of this release in my opinion is that it has the original opening "I Want to Change the World" which has been missing from every recent re-release of the series on both home media and streaming services. I don't know how they managed to get the licensing for it, but I'm so happy they did. This bodes well for the future as there were other songs that have been missing in recent re-releases as well, so if they managed to get this one in, then perhaps they'll be able to get the rest as well! Overall great release that I'd definitely recommend to anyone who is an Inuyasha fan. A true native HD release of a classic series and with it's inclusion of "I Want to Change the World," it is the definitive way to get the original experience in it's highest quality right now.

Being a kid that grew up in the early 2000's Inuyasha was a gateway into the world of anime alongside Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon and Pokémon. Needless to say these blu rays are the best way to watch the show. These releases retain the original 4:3 aspect ratio for these blu rays and the image quality is great. Not to mention it includes the original opening song which is sorely missing from streaming services. Of course you have the option to choose between Japanese with English Sub titles and the English Dub which thankfully retains the original Canadian voice cast. Overall it's a great collection, definitely recommend it to any fans or people who are interested in watching this classic series for the first time.

VIZ constantly doing a great job! The release keeps the original language tracks and proper subtitles. The video quality is a 10/10. The original 4:3 aspect ratio is preserved. The colours pop and look sharp, the film grain is also preserved very well to keep the details of the animation. I couldn't have asked for a better release And the best of all is that there are 27 episodes on this release, so about $1.80 per episode. Not bad at all. Why can't FUNimation learn from VIZ??

Been watching it a lot while I'm home sick. The inventive sicknesses grandpa comes up with to explain her disappearances are priceless.
