Quality headlamp with useful and practical features.
I'm very pleased with this light. It provides a number of useful options for lighting from spotlight to wide light, bright and dim and adjustable in between. There are two buttons which select between lighting modes...long press and short presses provide the modes. I only have two complaints...it does not tilt downward very far. This is somewhat made up for using the wide area mode but not useful when trying to use the spotlight. My other complaint is the 2nd press button...the smaller and slightly recessed button next to the larger more tactile primary button. It's difficult to tell when I have my finger on the smaller recessed button and often find I take the headlamp off to look at where the button is to be sure I know where to find it. Overall, it's a great quality headlamp and would certainly recommend. I love the USB rechargeable feature and overall value of this light with the features it has.

I Can Now See Into the Future (And My Neighbors' Souls)
I bought the Black Diamond Storm 450 because I wanted to go for a "nice evening stroll." What I actually got was a portable supernova strapped to my forehead. Here is the breakdown of my experience so far: The Brightness: At 450 lumens, this thing doesn’t just illuminate the trail; it interrogates it. I turned it on in my backyard and accidentally signaled a passing satellite. I’m pretty sure my neighbors think a UFO landed in suburban Ohio. If you ever need to perform emergency surgery in a cave or melt a hole through a glacier, this is your tool. The Dimming Feature: Thank God for the "PowerTap" technology. With a quick tap, I can go from "Search and Rescue Mode" to "Romantic Candlelight Dinner Mode" (if your date is into looking at a sweaty person in a headlamp). Waterproofness: I tested this by wearing it in the shower because I am a serious gear reviewer (and also because I lost power). It stayed bone dry and worked perfectly. I felt like a very illuminated submarine. The Red/Green/Blue Lights: I’m not sure why I need the blue light—maybe for tracking blood trails or hosting a very tiny, very sad rave—but the red light is great for when I want to sneak into the kitchen for a midnight snack without my wife or the dog judging me. Pros: Build quality is "dropped it off a cliff and it’s fine." Dustproof (tested by my inability to clean my house). Multiple settings so you don't accidentally blind your hiking buddies (unless they deserve it). Cons: The strap is so comfortable I forgot I was wearing it and walked into a grocery store looking like a confused coal miner. I now have no excuse for "not seeing" the spider on the wall. I saw it. We locked eyes. It was terrifying. Final Verdict: If you want a headlamp that makes the sun look like a flickering matchstick, buy this. Just maybe don't look directly into a mirror unless you want to see your skeleton.

Great Headlamp, Rolling Dice w/Battery Clasp
Had an earlier model. Can tell they've done some redesign - the headband, for example, clearly modified, thinner than before. Body looks slightly different. And it's still a fantastic headlamp - versatile, performant, comfortable, tons of features. But the reason I had an earlier one and don't now is that there's a design flaw in the battery compartment enclosure. The clasp snaps off. Mine snapped off (post warranty period but well before the unit was otherwise exhausted). Many have had it happen (check here and REI reviews). Obviously flawed design and/or material choice. Hopefully the aforementioned refreshes included addressing this flaw. It's not obvious they have, FWIW - clasp looks the same. And nowhere in the marketing do they say "revised" or similar. (Really appreciate when companies acknowledge issues and revisions.) The move to an infinitely variable tilt vs detants seems like another likely failure point. That'll wear out and it'll just flop forward. I went back to this unit because I DIDN'T want yet another device with a proprietary Li-ion rechargeable battery pack. I think we've gone totally overboard in that regard. I have quality rechargebable AAA batteries (shoutout Panasonic Eneloop) and wanted to keep using those. So I'm rolling the dice that BD addressed the well-documented battery enclosure issues. We shall see. It does have a 3 year manufacturer warranty. I'll just use the snot out of it and if it breaks, get that warranty replacement.

Good light
A great light bought for my son. My buddy has one, I have the older version and it has been sumersed in shallow water for a pretty long time no leaks. Pretty bright and rechargeable unlike the older one I have.
