Fine if you just want to protect the table surface.
As expected, the mat protects surfaces from damage and should stand up to a moderate amount of use; however, it is not self healing in the traditional sense (i.e. cuts within the mat can still be felt and do not disappear). The mat I received also had a printing fault, showing fading of the numbers and measuring grid.
