Okay.. What's going on? Why is this mouse so expensive? I have the same model and it was around 50$.

I am still using this mouse as of 07/26/2022 and I bought it over 10 years ago. I have replaced the left mouse button (it double clicked for a while and then stopped working completely) but I put in the new switch and good as new.

Does this mouse work with Win 8? Having trouble programming G400 buttons?

The G500 should work as a normal mouse on Win 8. To use it as gaming mouse, you need to go to Logitech's website and download "Logitech Gaming Software" (available in both 32 and 64 bit versions) which replaces their SetPoint and should support Win 8 last time I checked. If you still have your G400, you can use "Logitech Gaming Software" with it.

Anyone moved on from this mouse? Mine is started to show its age (7 years). I’ve tried newer mice but they are very uncomfortable compared to this...

I still use the G500 (and have a backup) on one computer and a G.SKILL RipJaws MX780 on another system. At the time all of the G500 I could find were either used or $200+. I have tried other mice but the MX780 is the closest one I liked for my needs, esp since it allows me to raise the palm rest and sits more comfortably then the other 5 mice I have gone through (and given to my sister/inlaw/nieces/nephews..). On my backup (9 years old) I had went through a 2 sets of switches to replace the worn out ones. You might find a new one (fingers crossed ) from Ebay to Newegg at $110 to $130.

I have this mouse, which I've been using for the past 6 years or so, and I'm wondering why it says "10 programmable buttons" even though it does not?

Left click, right click, middle click, mouse wheel tilt left, mouse wheel tilt right, DPI up, DPI down, 3 side buttons. 10 total. Would have been 12 if they counted mouse wheel up/down but they didn't
