Fast, easy, dependable wire stripping for the electrical hobbyist
I'm not using these for heavy duty daily electrician work, but for simply wire stripping they are great. Easily adjustable, saving time and wire (due to my prior unwanted slicing through insulation and miscellaneous copper strands). Should have bought this tool years ago. Thrilled with this purchase.

Great deal if you're looking for automatic strippers/crimper combo!
I have used every function these strippers have to offer and I'm really happy with it. My one gripe is that it seems to slip on some wires which requires me to hold the gripping jaw closed with my free hand. This design allows you to strip wires quickly, and the guide allows you to quickly set the depth. I do worry about the quality of the red adjustable stopper because it's plastic and sometimes it gets in the way. That can be resolved by unlocking it and extending it outwards. A few times, a piece of insulation gets stuck in the inner workings and stops it from functioning, but you can tip it over and the loose piece will fall out. Otherwise, the build quality feels great. It's sturdy and the handle design that includes various sized crimpers has proven to be handy. I can't attest to the longevity of the blades, but I'm sure they'll last a while.

Reliable and Easy to Use — My Go-To Wire Stripper
I’ve been working on home wiring projects for a while now, and this Amazon Basics Self-Adjusting Wire Stripper quickly became my favorite tool. The first thing I noticed was how solid it feels in my hand — the build quality is impressive for the price, with sturdy metal jaws and comfortable, grippy handles that don’t hurt my hands during longer sessions. The self-adjusting feature is a game-changer. I no longer have to guess or manually adjust for different wire gauges — it automatically adjusts to strip perfectly every time, whether I’m working on thin 22-gauge wires or thicker 12-gauge cables. This has saved me a lot of time and frustration. It also has a built-in crimper that works well for smaller terminals, so I can handle multiple tasks without switching tools. The adjustable stopper lets me control the stripped length, which is handy for consistency across projects. Overall, this wire stripper is a great mix of functionality, comfort, and durability. Whether you’re a DIYer or a pro, it’s a solid addition to your toolkit that won’t let you down

Blades aren't durable, stopper is flawed, fine for infrequent use
I loved this tool when I first got it, I thought the stopper was really nice. I had to replace it after a month of use though because the blades got too dull and wouldn't strip the 20ga stranded wire I'm working with anymore. I also ultimately stopped using the stopper, because while it's nice for repeatability, its flex usually ended up causing the discard to get stuck between the stopper and the blade. Unless you put no pressure on the stopper when using the stripper, be prepared to clear the cutoff from the tool between every cut...and honestly if I have to be careful when using this, then the feature is pointless. This tool is fine, maybe even really good, if you're going to whip it out occasionally, but for daily use I'd recommend getting something better.

Beware No Warranty - Failed on 2nd Use
Failed on the second wire I used it on. It worked perfectly on the first wire I tried and then it will not clamp hard enough anymore to strip any of the other wires I attempted. Unfortunately there appears to be only a 30 refund/replacement period with no warranty so I’m out of luck. Beware.

Actually strips wire!!
This is a REALLY good wire stripper, and worth the money. I had to experiment with some scrap wire to see how it actually works, but now I feel confident I do what I want with it.

This tool won’t grip 14 guage wire and not adjustable.
Review update. I took the tool apart and lubricated everything with silicon grease. I then re-assembled it and now it seems to work very well. I’m changing my review from one star to three stars as we should get the tool pre-lubricated. Previous one star review states: This tool is badly designed. It will not grip 14 guage wire and the adjustment knob will not tighten the grip. It might work for the larger 12 guage wire but for anything smaller it is useless. I tried two of these assuming I just the first one was defective but they both had the same problem with not gripping the 14 guage wire but I finally tried the Klein automatic wire stripper and it worked flawlessly. Do not buy this tool.

I bought this Stripper for basic electrical projects at home. It strips insulation fast and cleanly. The self-adjusting jaws grip insulation well and pull it off clean on common wire sizes. The handles feel comfortable in the hand and I enjoy the satisfying click on the wire has been stripped. The built-in cutter handles copper and aluminum wire without issue. This is a dependable wire stripper for DIY and light shop work and it offers solid value for the price.

I bought this tool because by and large Amazon Basics has been reliable, good quality, and competitively priced for all its products, in my experience, thus far. This wire-stripper was no exception. The build quality is good, the tool does exactly as advertised, strips wire easily, no headache, no calibration, no need to even double check. I've used it to strip extremely small wires (for circuit boards), as well as jack cables for guitars, and it does everything I've tried equally well so far. I've noticed that some people bought the product expecting it to strip extremely large / thick gauge wires (nothing of consumer level for sure), and were therefore disappointed to learn that it doesn't do that job too well, but considering their expectations were set far too high, and that they would require specialty tools for those gauges of wire, they can't really blame the product. Like I said, I've been splitting quarter inch jack cables regularly for the last month with no difficulty at all, and I can't anticipate any issues in the future either. The only con (in my opinion) is the wire cutter element (just above the crimping section) could have been a little sharper, and it does almost press the sheath every time it makes cuts, but once again, that's a super minor complaint, and honestly one that is easily solved by a little sharpening. Bottom line is that I would (and already have) recommended this to most of the people I know.
