Wallace Whitney 45-Piece 18/10 Stainless Steel Flatware Set, Service for 8

This is a revised review. I like the semi formal design, the weight and sturdiness. I would like the teaspoon to be 1/2" longer, both forks 1/2" shorter and the knife 3/4" shorter. The dinner spoon looks a little large. It holds a proper tablespoon. The teaspoon's bowl is a proper size; but would be nice if 1/2" to 5/8" longer, Wish there were 16 instead of 8. The forks and the knifes are continental size; a bit large. The 5 piece hostess set is good. I like the design. The pieces have a good feel, handle well, and are sturdy. I would rather have soup spoons than dinner spoons. Review update: The rust that some complain about is from reaction to the polishing compounds that remain from the maker. They will scrub away with non abrasive cleaners. I have come to like the design and the weight more so.

We have several sets of this pattern in our home. It is nice to have the same setting when hosting family and friends. It has a nice weight and feels good in the hand. I ordered this set to add to our current collection. While the pattern remains close to the same as the previous sets the soup spoons are could be used as serving spoons. The tea spoons are a bit larger than a large baby spoon. The knives, dinner and salad forks are almost the same size at the previous sets. Overall rated this as a 3 for those reasons. I wish Wallace (or their manufacturer) would use the same sizes for all of its sets.

I wanted to add to my existing service for 16. I ordered this set with 8 place settings and another set with 4 place settings and the sets had different size flatware in them!! The set I already own was the same size as the set for 4. The set for 8 had giant tablespoons and very small teaspoons. There is no difference in the description that I could find.

This is supposed to be stainless steel? My knives showed rust within two weeks of being washed in a dishwasher, and forks and spoons did a bit later. The rust is not severe but, who wants to butter their toast with a rusty knife? I know a dishwasher is a harsh environment but, come on, it is supposed to be stainless steel. A bit short on the Chromium I would say.

Price point and reviews got me to buy this set for a rental property and when the box came, I was very excited to open it up and check out the goods. As so many people mentioned, the one spoon is WAY too large for what I would see as for cereal or stirring coffee. Weight balance is very nice, shiny and great design that should still look good for years to come. Come on Wallace, all you need to do is correct that spoon size problem and your flatware set will be perfect.

I ordered these despite reports of rust after washing in the dishwasher. I've now owned this for 5 months, washing them solely in the dishwasher, and have had no signs of rust. The design is nice, kind of a classic design without being too feminine. The forks and spoons are a little more curved at the bottom that I thought from the picture. They are quite large.

I love this flatware. I have the same set but child lost some pieces so I found this on Amazon. It's sturdy, doesn't scratch easy and really holds up. My first set is still going and still beautiful after 20 years.

I needed a heavier set of silverware and this has not rusted with muli-washings. It is better to scrub off food before washing in the dishwasher. This has served me well in the last few months. The service is larger than it's picture and heavy. I have small hands and had a stroke. I love it!
