Perfect. Soft. Durable. Flexible. Reliable. Packaged well.
Reliable data transfer. I've transferred many terabytes with perfect verification and no interruptions. My bottleneck was a spinning HDD, so I can't attest to the speed, but it was as fast as I needed it to be. Length was accurate. Importantly, the cable is packaged in a smooth loop rather than being creased, resulting in a no-kink cable. I was happy to pay the price for a brand I know and trust for cables. I used this to plug an external hard drive dock into the Thunderbolt port of a Mac Mini. I realized that I do not get Thunderbolt speeds and I only get USB speeds, but that was my intention. The Mac liked this cable and so did my external hard drive dock, which originally came with a USB A to USB B 3.0. Perfect!

Works with a MacBook Air and an external hard drive
Good quality cable, used it to connect a 2025 MacBook Air to an OWC Mercury Elite Pro external hard drive for Time Machine backups, worked without issue.

Works great
I bought this one when I actually needed a physical connection between my printer and computer. Like everyone else, I’ve gone wireless so this now sits in a drawer. I will say, that it worked great while I using it.

This is a USB-2 Cable
Great cable. Be aware when connecting USB2/3 devices to USB 3/4 devices, the older USB controller within the former device can cause USB2 fallback. Leverage driver based solutions to force USB3 in such scenarios.

USB-B Connector Was Bent
Purchased this to connect a regular USB3 hub to a USB-C port on a dock. The larger end of the cable (the USB-B end) would not plug into the dock, and upon closer inspection I saw that it was crushed a bit, bent out of shape (and did not appear to be shipping damage). I was going to return it, but I was able to bend it back into usable shape with a screwdriver. Works fine.

Not getting advertised USB 3.0 connection speeds
UPDATE: 5 stars. Cable Matters contacted me and made things right. First, they shipped me a replacement cable free-of-charge. Unfortunately, that one did not show any improvement with my particular drive. When I let them know, they issued a full refund no questions asked. So while this product did not work as I required for my particular device, I could not have asked for any better customer service. So my experience suggests there's no risk in trying this product if it's what you're looking for. ORIGINAL 2-STAR REVIEW: I purchased this cable to connect my OWC Mercury Elite Pro USB 3 Enclosure to my 2017 iMac. Physically, the cable works fine -- on one end plugging into the Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C compatible) port on the back of my iMac, and the other end plugging into the USB Type B port on my external drive. I expected this arrangement to support USB 3 "up to 5 Gbps" connection which is advertised in the product description, in order to get maximum performance out of my external drive. However, when using this cable to connect my drive, the drive reports itself (via macOS System Report) as having a max speed of 480Mbps which is USB2 speed not USB3. To check the drive itself, I connected it with the standard USBA/B cable that came with the drive, and it reports itself as having max speed to 5 Gbps which is true USB 3. So I know the drive/enclosure itself supports the faster speed. I've included images of both macOS system reports. This cable will not work for me as I need maximum performance for my external drive. NOTE: I also know the problem isn't the Thunderbolt 3 connector on my computer. Using a USB C to Micro-B 3.0 cable on the same Thunderbolt 3 port on my Mac, I am getting full USB 3 speed on a separate external drive which uses the Micro-B connector.

Great cable!
I have most of my PC peripherals plugged into a powered USB hub with a B output - I wanted to use a USB C connection for it. I also wanted to have it quite a few feet from my desktop tower to minimise wires. This cable worked perfectly. Had the length I needed and a strong hold connection. Can’t go wrong for the price! All my peripherals connected smoothly to my PC with no issues via the hub!
