A very effective and relatively quiet dehumidifier
This is an excellent desiccant dehumidifier, and superior to my previous one costing twice the price. It's compact and light enough to be moved around the house if required. It needs about 8 inches of clearance from the wall to the back of the machine for the filter to work efficiently. The filter is at the back, and it's very easy to clean as it just slides out from the side. It can be vacuumed or brushed. I use a soft-bristle brush (new paintbrush or similar). It's quieter than my last dehumidifier. On the Eco setting, it makes a similar noise to a cool air fan. The turbo setting is noisier since it uses more power. I've placed mine in the hallway, where it manages to extract moisture from the living room, bedroom, kitchenette and bathroom. Internal doors need to be left open a bit, but windows, etc., should be closed while the dehumidifier is in use (otherwise it will draw in moisture from outdoors and cost much more to run). The rotary dial allows you to select from a complete range of humidity levels, not just low, medium and high as on preset push-button models. However, apart from the raindrop (moisture) symbols, there's no scale of humidity level settings on the rotary dial itself, so you will need a separate hygrometer to measure / monitor the actual humidity levels. From electricity meter readings, and for a 1-bedroom flat, I've estimated that using this dehumidifier on the Eco setting for 24 hours daily, will increase my electricity bill by about £10 to £15 per month (although this may be greater for larger houses, or if your pre-existing humidity or dampness levels are particularly high). The estimated cost takes into account the fact that it doesn't actually operate for 24 hours, because it cuts off automatically once the desired humidity level has been reached and only comes on again when the humidity level rises. The increase in electricity could be reduced by using the dehumidifier only during the day or night, or only when cooking or using a shower / bath. However, on health, hygiene and humidity grounds, it may be advisable to keep it running as long as it remains affordable. UPDATE 27 Feb 2016: After running this dehumidifier on automatic for the last few months, I've found that it doesn't need to switch itself on as often now since the humidity levels in the house have been progressively reduced to an optimum level. Therefore, the electricity costs will be less than I estimated originally (above). This EcoAir dehumidifier is proving to be more economical than my previous one (which was a different brand).

Great dehumidifier! I’d recommend
I’ve been using this dehumidifier for about 3 years now and it has worked very well! It has a knob which allows you to adjust how much water the dehumidifier removes from the air. Once the right level has been reached it turns off. Living in the UK this is great for when I hang clothes indoors to prevent the air become too humid which could promote growth of mould. I’d highly recommend this dehumidifier!

Great when it works
Bought this last January to help keep the air in my (at the time) small, open-plan house free from moisture when cooking. Unit it unobtrusive, and fairly quiet when in "Low" mode. I'm a light sleeper and can sleep through this. It kept my windows free of moisture and helped to curb the damp patch that was on the stairs. It's also great for drying clothes indoors - set it to dry mode and leave it by your clothes for a couple of hours and it'll dry them out. Running costs aren't too bad. Using my British Gas meter it was reading about 5p/hour on low and 10p/hour for drying mode. The timer function is great if you're going out and want to run it for a time without worrying about cost. It is pretty efficient and it's always shocking to see how much water it pulls out of the air. I've since moved to another house but still use the unit when I'm cooking in the kitchen, or having a shower. It's great for winter when you want to keep the windows closed but don't want the condensation. After about 13 months the unit stopped working. I tried my luck and contacted EcoAir directly about the fault. Despite being out of warranty, a few email exchanges and a copy of my Amazon receipt later, they agreed to repair the unit for free. Couldn't fault their service and had the unit back within a week.

So far (2 weeks of use) very efficient.
Arrived quickly, easy to set up, relatively lightweight.Efficient at sucking water out of my conservatory airspace. Easy to empty, though best to empty before the container is full! It is quiet- just a low humming. So far, very good!

Super dehumidifier and reasonably priced
I bought this specific dehumidifier as a friend had recommended it and I must say it works very well and pretty quietly. I haven't had one before so can't really compare to anything else, but we bought this to help dry out a very damp room which had been recently re-plastered and would not dry in our old/poorly insulated cottage in the wet and cold weather. Within a day of putting the unit into the room most of the walls had visibly dried and a day later the entire walls appeared dry. We have kept the machine on for about a week now and the whole house is feeling much less damp and cold. The most marked improvement is that clothes are coming out of the wardrobe feeling dry and warm and the same can be said for our bed sheets which previously felt very cold and slightly damp every evening when getting into bed. A number of reviews say this, but having bought this item my only regret is that I did not buy one sooner. We recently moved into an old cottage which is poorly heated and hardly insulated so it seems we have signed up to a lifetime of dehumidifiers, but with this unit being as small and quiet as it is, we are quite happy to have it working away on one of the relative humidity settings to keep our house comfortable and prevent excessive moisture in the built-in wardrobes causing damage to clothing. If you are looking for a dehumidifier in this price bracket I would thoroughly recommend.
